SUPER BUMMED !! CLARK'S NOT at the TOSS confused smiley
Posted by: soytrejo ()
Date: October 20, 2017 05:14PM

Got here yesterday. Having some good fun with my 15 yo son. Went and helped some of our Tucson Club members setup at their space. Lots of activity going on. The raffle car is SWEET!!!! Spoke with Bob Helt-he even gave me a copy of "The Classic Corvair" Spoke with Seth. Mike from Mikes Corvairs. Bought some t-shirts even got one for my wife--keeps me out of trouble. Met Atty and Fred from the San Diego Corvair Club.....bought a couple of things. All was great..
UNTIL we asked what time CLARK's was setting up..
THEY DIDN't COME THIS YEAR!!!!!!!

CRAPOLA and SUPER BUMMED at the TOSS. I had a list of 3k worth of stuff...hoping to save a little mula. Oh well, maybe i will find some stuff here and just order the bare essentials.

Frank..I've only seen them there a few times in the 17 yrs. I've been around...

Also, as was reported, they have cut back on what they bring to Conventions....

Yep bummed that Clarks didn't make it. Had very large order I was going to place. You would think that they would support us out here on the west coast, I guess not. Guess I will spend the $$$ with someone else.

They do not mention the Toss on their "Shows we are attending in 2017" page.

I messaged Clark's last week and they replied they could not make the GWFBT this year due to another commitment. No discount this year.

You could have come to the Clarks open house event a couple of weeks ago, and if you ordered prior to the event, your parts would have been packed, and ready for your pick up, and you would have saved money on the parts, and no shipping charges.
I challenge you to name any Corvair vendor that supports the hobby, and the Corvair community more than Clarks does. If it were not for Clarks commitment to the Corvair, there wouldn't be anywhere near the number of reproductions that are available today.

Junk.... apples to oranges... West coast vs East coast...

Mike wants to save shipping cut and dry! on any item that is available from Vendors closer..

And everyone realizes how good Clark's is...no need to preach to the choir!! gg

They just need to open a west coast warehouse to be competitive on "common parts"... imo

I'm getting long in the tooth and the Clarks are older than me. I wonder what will happen to Clarks Corvair Parts after the Clarks.

Corvairs are in a slow decline, some areas show growth but I think overall the hobby is in decline and it shows up in things like this, people earning a living off providing services will continue to cut back as demand decreases. I'm no help to them as I'm not restoring and my cars have taken very little to maintain, I probably average less than $200 a year for both.

Think your expectations were too high.

You should have checked with your club members about Clark's recent attendance at the Toss.

I do not think Clark's has brought a lot of parts to the Toss for decades.

In the cases that they flew; they may have brought some small parts.

Basically, it would be a 10 day trip.

I doubt that the profits (even your 3k order which would probably be unusual) would cover the cost...

I'm not surprised Clarks isn't at the Toss.

I think if we knew exactly what it costs to run their business, the expense to go to Palm Springs and the lack of profitibilty there we wouldn't be surprised at all.

I'd put my money on the fact they didn't see it being worthwhile from a business position. Face it, they aren't running their operation from their house.

Once the Clarks themselves retire hopefully they will find someone who thinks buying that business in this declining market is a good investmnent.

Sadly, I think OPG will find this out too the hard way.

On a positive note, there will be great deals to be found at the Toss as always!

There were rumors (RUMORS) that Clark's was being purchased by OPGI.

OPGI promised a Corvair catalog early this past summer but it hasn't shipped yet.

Reminds me when Lon started having health problems and a group out of Texas "Almost" bought "The Corvair UnderGround"
