My 1967 Corvair stuck at the hotel ! NOT Anymore! smiling bouncing smiley

Ugh! Arrived at Western Inn in Council Bluffs, Iowa two hours ago after drove over 500 miles from my home. When I returned to my car from hotel to pick up luggage. I noticed GEN/FAN is lit up even the ignition still turn off. It goes off when I start up and ok. I came out and checked the engine and I can feel both alternator and voltage regulator seems very overheated.
Do you know anyone who lives in this area to help me with good voltage regulator and alternator in good used (or new)condition? I’d be glad to pay for your service and time if so, I really appreciate your help. I am staying here until next Sunday to attend class reunion.

Hello Steven: Never travel without your CORSA roster. I find Mike Downey in Omaha listed. I don't know geography of Council Bluffs well enough to know the suburbs, sorry. I am going to PM Mike's phone number to you

best wishes, Steve

Yes, I ran to my car and disconnect the cable. I noticed the alternator already overheated. Thanks for letting me know!

While waiting for new voltage regulator coming at my hotel tomorrow morning. I just realized that each special rubber grommets it has built in nut. All are already damaged. There are any way to fabricate it? Or simple putting a screw directly into it?

New replacement Voltage Regulators are electronic so they don't need isolation like the old mechanical ones. OK to bolt directly to car.

You should be able to find replacements for the well nuts at a decent hardware store.

Ok... Should I re-used an old condenser on new VR?

Finally got new VR from local NAPA parts store recently. It is an electronic? Looks like different than original. It was manufactured in China. Part number is VR142SB. I also got used alternator from Corvair helper, too. I am working on it soon. Let us cross our collective fingers!
