East coast car. It Does not look too bad. Low mileage.

I would like to buy at right price but have no clue how to accomplish.

Damage from engine fire, so would be a nice fit for my good motor and smashed body 1966.

If anyone knows this car, please PM or reply with condition report or how to contact seller to work out a deal.

The big problem with Copart, is the fees that they will charge you if you are the successful bidder. Not certain how this location deals with individuals, but at some locations, they require you to first register and pay a registration fee (about $75-100). Then the rest of the fees are on top of that, if you are the successful buyer (another $300 - 400). I have a friend with a dealers license that buys at Copart, and he has said many times, they are overpriced with their fees. There high fees keep prices down many times, and he has successfully purchased collector cars all over the US at bargain basement prices. You might say that it is a double edged sword if you will make out price wise after paying for the car and the fees. He buys mostly donated cars that are being sold for charities.

As Paul points out, they are an auction site that deals mostly in insurance totals. Too many fees and rules for my taste. Just registering with them is like pulling teeth. I have bought stuff from them and it usually is not worth it. That looks like a $500 car to me.

If you do not have a business license you will have to go through a broker. Plan on adding $800+ to the final price. Been there. Done that. Won't do it again angry smiley

Odd as I think this COPART is a rigged game.

Where buyer is committed to purchase at know bid price, but seller is not committed to sell.

Car did not sell and now back on the auction for next week and buy it now went from 3795 to 4300.

I'll conclude there is probable interest, but has gotten too rich for me.

I'll keep on the hunt for solid body LM vert with a bad or missing motor.

I think I can explain that.
I am sorry to say that you, and as a result us (the forum users) drove up the price.
Similar to the inter-connected wrecking yard computers, as interest in a part goes up, the price does also.
If you call a wrecking yard and ask for availability of a part, they look at ALL wrecking yards in your nearby vicinity and find it for you.
when you call the next wrecking yard, it now comes up on the computers that 2 people want that part.
And each time you call a different yard looking for a cheaper price, it shows as more interest, and the price goes up.
SO, once you posted it here, we all started going to look at it, and in doing so, it drove the price up as the number of recent views showed greater interest in the car you wanted.
SORRY!

Smart Move!!

IMO not "rigged" just their rules you must play by..

Just like Auctions today....50 years ago you put up for auction because you wanted it gone.. no such thing as a "reserve".

What AM-Mel sez!!

When shopping auctions on ebay...

NEVER "save to watch list" save the link to your Browser...

Never Bid...if you absolutely want it until 3 seconds before close....

A you know where the price is.....you make your final decision what to bid...

Say a Laptop....most are selling for$300 with no reserve... very common...

This one is at $68 and surely someone else will "snipe".. but I am willing to pay $200 for it....

So I bid $200 with 3 seconds to go.... got it for $90! with approx. 3 snipers also bidding with say 5 seconds left....but most likely used a "Sniping Service" that operates like ebay's "Proxy Bid"... only raising the bid in XXX increments...just enough to outbid the last bidder.

Doubt it’s rigged. They don’t make any money until it sells. Not sure where the estimated retail value came from. How high did the last bidding get? That’s the number that counts...

I love the snipe! Sometimes it's the best part of the auction experience. Even better than the feeling you get for the part itself.smoking smiley
