Name This Pedal
Posted by: Lane66m ()

I have this pedal that I can not identify. I know it is not for a 67 or later as I reviewed the latest manual shift pedals discussion.. Nor does it match my 66. It took me a bit to get under the dash to check both ends of those pedals.

Anyone know what it goes to? I got it in a bin of Vair parts.

Not Corvair as they do not have a fixed clevis pin like that.Definitely looks to be GM.

I wonder if it goes to a Chevy truck from the 70's. I also got a flex plate in the same bin. It is about 22 inches in diameter. Only could fit a Automatic Transmission Chevy vehicle. Attached is a picture of what mine sort of looks like. Mine is all rusted.

Guess they will ride along to Maggie Valley to see if anyone has use of them.

Chevrolet 90 degree V6/V8 flexplates or flywheels came in several flavors.
The 85 and older engines with the 2 piece rear main seal have a larger crank flange bolt pattern. But they came with either 153 teeth or 168 teeth.

The flex plate is counter balanced! It's been to long for me to remember what it fits though.

The pedal is a brake pedal but I'm not sure it is a late GM, 80's+, as GM most times used an open clevis with a through pin and a clip.

I know some Fords used a loop around a fixed pin like that.

Could also be for a 454 as they were externally balanced as well.

Please understand that is a picture of what my flex plate looks like. I will post a photo of the real flex plate later today. Time to get another Milogram this morning for the pain in my legs.

Here is the actual flex plate I got in the Vair parts bin. Memory of what I tossed in junk pile a few weeks ago lost a few details of it.

I suspect the brake pedal and that go together. Not GM.

That looks like a Ford flex plate.

No markings on it, so it might be, Lee.

My wife found a Ford Oval with FORD in on the flex plate during its cleaning. So Lee, you are right on with the flex plate.

Both parts were disposed of. At Maggie Valley, I gave the pedal arm to a guy building a hot rod. The flex plate went to a guy who was going to give it to his transmission person to identify and use, since the teeth were in good condition.
