Ok we have a bit of a problem, now I'm actually pulling boost when the turbo stops lagging it literally revs sky high and the mph doesn't go up as much as you would expect. So I am assuming slipping clutch, anyway since I have a 127 tooth lightened flywheel do I get a vw clutch or corvair clutch??

Thanks

VW.... you'll need to measure the recess in the flywheel and see how large you can go...

I think 127 is 12 volt? 67-79?

200 mm 4 puck disc

Actually it turns out that the 127 tooth ring is for use with Corvair starter

VW's are 109 / 6 volt or 130 / 12 volt...

So you need to measure the recess... may only be 180 mm..

Is there any certain type of clutch that anyone recommends?

I suggested the 4 puck unit.... much stronger than a regular disk... and only $70!

6 puck may be too "grabby" for the street.

Stick with the cush 200mm clutch disc and maybe try a beefier pressure plate. Kennedy stage II or equivalent. Stage III is way too heavy for a street car.

How did you resurface the old crown flywheel or did you just run it in asis used condition?

The flywheel was in fine condition but the pressure plate should be been replaced, but thing is I need to pull the engine out and check it all out cuz I want to do a hydraulic clutch conversion as well. Anyone done those?
And the cush your talking about, is that the cush lock discs?

I believe Rod means the Disc with the springs...not solid...

He's concerned with your input shaft on the street... Rod has extensive experience with these combo's..

I did a hydraulic clutch conversion on my car- its the first thing I covered
in my post, on the very first page. I bought the master and slave from CB performance... there's others that have been covered here- search for hydraulic
clutch conversion.
I bet that CB performance has a complete kit for your bug, you will have a much easier time doing your conversion than I did doing mine, because you wont
have so much extra fabrication to do. I've got to say, the time and effort to do this on my car was well worth it! super nice easy action.
