I dunno, I guess its not really a practical daily driver, and soaks up a lotta money it seems I guess there's only so many things which can break, keep fixing them and soon your car will be great

EXACTLY ! ! !
You really are at, or near the pinnacle.
I would suggest that you keep it.
If it is costing a lot to drive, maybe you should try to not push so hard on the Loud Pedal. grinning smiley

If you built the transaxle gear wise it would be a whole other world. At least if you want balls stop light to stop light races are won with gearing. Everything you could ever want for VW is available and will handle the corvair. R&P swap with a good 2nd 3rd in a VW box will pull so hard and fast you would be surprised and feel like you just got back some big HP.

You can't have both so be ready to do 65mph at 3500 rpm lol

This was one of my favorite driving bugs ever but the transaxle was known as the engine killer ..... oh man that thing was a mountain goat. Fast on the street for a VW but no way could you commute this thing long distance. It went wheels up before we vair powered it but it didn't need a bigger motor the 1835 was dialed running a single zenith and at WOT is was plenty for what it was. That's one I'll miss it was period correct and as fun as it gets to drive. GGG

Well the vw tranny ain't as tough as I thought. Well she making bad noises. Working on getting another daily driver, while I tear the tranny apart and see what is all wrong, I think its definitely a CV joint that is bad so far. We shall see, can't say I wasnt warnedgrinning smiley

You can see and service the CV joints without tearing transaxle apart.

best wishes, Steve

Yes, I have jus thg purchased all new CV joints. Going to replace that and now I am running it on e85 just for fun to see what willhappen, it seems to run a lot colder and if I richer the idle it runs a lot better. Anyone done this on turbo corvair? I dont think there is anything wrong with it other than it smells like absolute ass though.

Ok, so I have a quick question, is there anyone who has a better carb than the YH. The YH is good and all but isnt really ideal for making any power. Hardly that is. What is the best way? Is there anyone who has a 150hp turbo for sale either for parts? Mainly the smaller turbine and housing....

Thanks

Troy, most community colleges have vocational classes.
An evening welding class would be just the ticket.
Most Community Colleges have minimal tuition, and the welding classes usually let you build your own projects after you learn the welding basics.
You should see what is available in your local area.
