Rough idle

Going crazy trying to figure this out, 110 bone stock, I had it running great then it starts idling rough at a stop but cruising it seems fine, I take the filter off and put my hand over the carb while revving it a bit and it clears up and idles good but the minute I drive and come to a stop it idles rough again. It sure seems like there is some gunk in there but I've gone through the carb twice, and it's only the passenger side carb. I have another carb I could put on but I really would like to know what is going on in there, thanks

Are you blowing out ALL passages?

Most common cause is idle siphon Tube plugged on bottom

Is the passenger side carb returning to the Idle position? Or, is it flopping around?

have you checked the base gaskets and insulators? sounds like it could be a vacuum leak.

Probably should take the top of the carb off and remove any small bits in the bowl.

Actually, a vacuum leak may be a possibility.

When an idle tube plugged with a bit of grit / scale, I recall (memory??? - decades ago) the engine running rough up to about 30 - 35 mph (when the carb switched to the main jet???).

I fixed the problem, it had to be something getting sucked into the idle circuit.
Car is running good now, I've never had a corvair carb be so finicky, usually a good cleaning will clear things up for quite a while
