EM Rear window trim clips (whats needed?)
Posted by: brocklanders ()

Just getting ready to install my glass, and I'm looking to place an order for the rear window trim clips.
I've searched and none seem to mention how many I need, and what types. Is it just the one type that Clarks lists (C3692)?

thank you.

Thats because there isn't any clips. The trim is inserted into the rubber, then the glass is inserted into the rubber. After all that is assembled you install the assembly into the car with a string. Google how to do that. Don't try to put the trim in after or you will be looking for new trim.

On the rear glass of an EM there ARE clips used. There are about 8 of them used.

A search will show some posts talking about this in depth.

I did search, as mentioned......

I didn't see amounts, Clarks mentions 8 per 'location'?
and another here mentioned "about 15"

Clarification is still needed.

Kyle
Assume you are working on a "club Coupe"
The 1961 shop manual describes 4 clips on both the upper and lower reveal mouldings on the 727 and 927 models

8 clips across bottom, 8 more across top, the L & R side pieces each have 1 screw near top end, clip near middle and threaded post clip near bottom. Do search for my recent post "...Expert Advice Needed EM Rear Window Trim...", there's a photo of the special threaded post clip; got those from Corvair Ranch.

HERE is a link to MonzaJPD61 Expert Advice needed post.

I would still read the Chevrolet Shop Manual describing the magic trick.
It clearly says 4 clips on the top and 4 clips on the bottom.
The side trim does have a lower clip/stud/nut challenge as specifically mentioned in the thread above, but also covered in the C.S.M

I haven't done this job - still in my future....

I can't explain the discrepancy between my actual experience doing the job on a 1 owner 1961 Monza 2Dr Coupe vs. the shop manual referenced.
But if your car is like mine was, you will need:
16ea. trim clips - Clark's C3692 (4 of which are held in place by screws)
2ea. specialty threaded post clips
2ea. #6 x 5/16" pan head phillips sheet metal screws and
2ea. trim clips Clark's C3691
all for the locations I've previously described.
