Fan Belt 1960 Corvair 700

At high Rpms the fan belt slips off. Any advice/ tricks to keep it from not doing that

With the belt off.... check all pulleys for rust in the grooves.
Spin each, including the generator..... they should be quiet and only spin one or two turns by finger. If not... they need service!

Generator does require engine oil [ dripped from Dipstick ] into cups every
3-5k miles..


Make sure it is LOOSE!! when the engine is cold.... you should be able to move the generator by the fan with one finger.... no tighter!! The Engine expands dramatically when hot!

Also after adjustment... make sure all pulleys have the belt aligned perfectly straight in and out of each pulley.

And as Dave showed.... a 3/8" x 56" long belt that is WRAPPED!! We want slippage!!

If Dave and Matts advice is followed these fan belts become a big time NON ISSUE.
