Yes this VW yard was about 5 miles north of me. I remember Corky serving notice on the county that he would protect his property at all cost. This "war" went on for years until the county just came in and scrapped almost everything. Corky moved some cars across the street to his new business. He passed away a year or so ago and his business is now gone. The property where all the cars were is now a vacant lot. EddieB Dade City,fl

Does anyone know if there are any Corvairs on the property worth saving? I'd be willing to make the drive and purchase a highly optioned Corsa (either 4 carb or turbo), and even a '64 Spyder, that is if they aren't total rust buckets and are worth the effort. If a few were sold before the hearing, it would show the city/county that he is taking them seriously and may buy him some time.

That's just crazy talk. Is that info in the service manual?

I agree. I'd be interested in a 4 carb Corsa as well or a 4 Speed wagon unless they're rustier than what we have locally here in the southeast. My '63 coupe is enough of a rust bucket! It would at least give a home to some of the cars that he obviously isn't restoring and help him with the legal fees he'll eventually start racking up

Many of the cars are (or were) low rust southern cars. Mike is especially interested in air conditioned cars, among others. Many contain valuable options. However, I cannot at this time vouch for just how rust-free they are anymore. You'd just have to go see for yourself, though there are many great project cars among them.

A note on the two pictures that were in the original article. One is an aerial shot showing just the front half of his property. The other shot was presented as a supposed view from the street. It is not. It was taken with a telephoto lens and what it shows is above the middle of the picture. It was shot down his west drive, past the first (chicken barn) building on the left, past his second building on the right and in back of his house, and to just beyond his third barn (upper or back building) and into the field. The barrels are beside and to the left of his second building, and the field begins with the line of brush just to the north of his back building. So the reporter was a hack who was out to get Mike.

Sadly like most news media today he didn't want facts to get in the way of his "story".

If you go to the news article you can post replies. It would be nice if we all showed support for him no matter the outcome!
If you go to Google maps you will see that he is not in the town and there are not that many homes around him. It is like you say some hack reporter out to get him.

Hard to get his side of the story if he wont tell it to you.

If you hang up on the reporter you don't get to complain that they aren't taking your side.

If you'll note on toytron's Google picture, his house is at the lower right partly obscured by the tree. Next up on the left is the chicken barn between the trees, then the lower barn on the right between the trees. Then the upper/back building on the left between the trees. The big tree just north of there in the middle of the clear lane is the tree where the cars in the picture are. And none of the cars beyond that line of brush are visible from the road. Or adjacent houses.

Mark is there property for sale nearby? I was told that some realtors will make complaints to city zoning if 'stuff' is near their listed property. Many times having old cars parked outside will decrease prop values. Remember too that most cities act on complaints. The city only gets involved after the complaint.

I too am dreaming of a LM Corsa vert with a 180. Is there anyone close enough to go there and look for one for me? I would pay for the trouble. If it leads to a good car, worth the investment. I am in Oregon and the trip is not feasible for me.
