Dwight K's...141 mph Pass at El Mirage Landspeed Event
Posted by: Phil Dally ()
Date: May 21, 2017 05:07PM

Holy Cow!!! 17 mile per hour jump in one event.

Amazing what the right carburetor will do for you.

Ice water intercooler and a big intake plenum next.

And DW will be knocking on the 140 mph front door.

Last I heard he was headed to Ron Cohn's motorhome.

Motohead took a bazillion pictures.

I'm sure he will chime in soon.

I'll let DW give his real name.

That has at least the stock compressor housing. The turbine housing looks like an aftermarket Rajay with a 3 bolt inlet flange so lord only knows what it has for a turbine.

My 148.253 mph pass is in some serious jeopardy.

12 mph jump in one event...he's doing something right.

I will call DW this weekend and get a full report.

Wasn't there last weekend...went back to work again.

Great to see this. What class is the car in? Looks like a stock class of some sort.

E/CPS record is at 170 "minimum"

I THINK that's under "E" 3000cc's "Classic" [ no electronics ] "P" Production [ no aero devices ] "S" Supercharged and no "G" [ gasoline] or "F" [ fuel] since this Classic Class only allows Gasoline.

Cool. I wish the video didn't have the music - the only music I want at El Mirage is the music of the motors!

For twelve years I campaigned in F/PROD F/CPS F/BGALT F/BFALT.

There is no "Corvair class" per say...you make it fit in a class.

You run against every type of racecar that also fits in your class.

Landspeed is the only motorsprt that you can build a car from scratch.

No were expect Landspeed Racing can you see in the same staging line.

400 mph Streamliner
300 mph Roadster
200 mpg Muscle Car
Corvair
Pinto
Vega
VW

If you are a car guy Bonneville is a bucket list item...don't miss it.

"E" engine is 3.015 to 4.276 Liters or 184 to 261 cu. in.

"F" Engine is 2.016 to 3.014 or 123 to 184 cu. in.

At El Mirage >>E/CPS record is at 170 "minimum"<<

I believe the SCTA Rule Book is written in a Foreign language and there is no know translation into English.

D/CPS does have a record of 181.0 mph. No E or F record recorded at El Mirage.
Dwight's 141 mph run is a "time Only" and as I understand, it simply means nothing because of the Arbitrary Minimum of 170.

D/CPS 4.277 to 5.014 liters or 261 to 306 cu. in.

Bonneville has records for D and E/CPS, but no F for under 3.0 liter

D/CPS is 198.143 mph
E/CPS is 139.359 mph

If Dwight can do 141 mph on the one mile at El Mirage, he should have no trouble getting close to 150 on the three mile at Bonneville.
I'm guessing he built the engine for "E", over 3.0 liter, with the E/CPS at Bonneville in mind.
