EM Engine production markings -- what do they mean?

Hello all,
I'm working on cleaning/blasting/painting all the engine sheet metal on my 62 Monza. The car is all original and as far as I can tell, never been apart. I found faint remains of some markings on the lower left heater hose shroud (see pics) Looks like a "7". Anyone know what this might mean?

And on the other side of this shroud.

I haven't seen any other crayon markings on any other part.

Worker's codes most likely... Bodies have crayon numbers as well
