The last Corvair rolled off the assembly line 48 years ago yesterday. My how time goes quick.

Well, actually yesterday, but that was Mother's Day, so we shouldn't "horn in" eh?

May 14 is a "Corvair Heritage Day" for sure!

The CORVAIR's lasting legacy is that all automobiles were greatly improved because of Federal legislation and mandates that the Corvair itself directly inspired. Naders Raiders sung a more popular chart topping tune than Mark Lindsay's Raiders did about the rear engined aircooled Chevy. By the May 1969 end of production, there was almost nobody who wanted to buy a new Corvair.
Dealers had a difficult time selling them.

sorry this is so late but on May 14 1969 I was driving home from work listening to the AM radio in my 5 month old 69 Monza and heard the news that the last Corvair had just rolled off the line at Willow Run.I'll never forget that moment.
