Lee J - I hope you can figure out how to post the comparison picture. That would be a big help!

Ray Chappell -- Never said it had to be free. Just want to find the correct '65 turbo accelerator rod, and at a reasonable price... Thank you for the info about Corvair Ranch.

I once needed the correct rod for a '66 turbo. Sure, who wouldn't like something for a few bucks, but I don't consider $40 for that specially shaped rod horribly out of line. I had dicked around with trying to get earlier rods to work, but there is no substitute for the correct part.

I hope Lee can get the picture posted as well because I'm getting mixed messages.

A couple of venders say there is only one late model turbo rod and the Clarks catalog gives two part numbers CU559 and CU561.

I should have the one I ordered by Friday. It is returnable if not correct but then I will be back on the hunt.

Received my accelerator rod today.

I have spoken to two well respected Corvair mechanics and four vendors about rods for 65 & 66 models.

Only one vendor and one mechanic said there is a difference between the two model years. They could not explain the difference.

In in my opinion the difference must be so small it doesn't matter, or its just part numbers.

Until we get a side by side picture this is how it is for now.

Or somebody with a 65 and known 65 rod post a photo and I'll post a photo of my 66 throttle rod.

Ray, have you had a chance to install the rod you received? Is it correct for your application?

Al can you post a picture of your 66 rod and will try and compare it to the one I have?

If its different I will try and post a picture of mine.

I have tried to post pictures without luck. But I will try again if needed.

Mark
My mechanic won't be able to until next week.

From the conversations with the two mechanics I'm not overly concerned about it not working.

I will keep you updated.

Ray:

I will get it off the car tomorrow afternoon and take a photo to post. Easy to get off since the engine is out. Transaxle still in car.
