You should be able to see pictures later in the thread, the earlier ones were on photobucket and they blackmailed every one into paying for their pictures which I refuse to do.

I you can't tell my internet has been down for a while and I have to catch up posting.

Turned out pretty good for a driveway paint job.

Couldn't find my mounting clips of the letters..... They have to be in one of the 500 boxes with corvair parts in them grinning smiley

Hi Tom,

You have done amazing work! What "tricks" did you use to sand inside the louvres on the engine hood? I am doing this on my 62, and I am tearing sandpaper almost as quickly as the skin on my fingers working inside the metal louvres.

Thanks!

Lots of band aids!!! smiling bouncing smiley

I also took a wooden paint stirrer and glued some leather to it.

Then used spray adhesive on the back of the abrasive and stuck it to the leather.

This way it had a little give and worked better than just attaching to stick.

I did use your method quite a bit also. (The louvers were a major PITA!)

Got most of the car buffed out, fortunately it turned out straight, didn't miss any spots, just a few small dings.

Also started to work on the vent windows. Took them all apart.

The stainless was a bit weathered:

Sanded it down with extra fine paper:

Then buffed:

Also did the window surround:

after:

Have a few parts on order to finish up, rivits, new handles.

Will post finished assembled pictures when done.

Doesn't look much of a MUTT anymore. Nice job. just a thought, I think you'll find that if you remove the doors again it will be easier to install your interior items without the risk of damaging your fine paint.

Progress is a bit slower, no longer on vacation! sad smiley

Here is the vent window with new gaskets and such:

Blasted and painted all latch hardware and made new anti rattle washers from some neoprene craft foam.

Took apart the upper "clamshell" of the heater unit so I could sand blast. There were some pinholes in the metal, so I decided to use body adhesive and rejoin the halves to glue it back together. This way it eliminated the leaks and joined it back together in one step. We will see how well it works out.

Also put in a new blower motor and cleaned up the fan.
