Huge Thank You to Jackie J in Beloit, WI
Posted by: Phil Dally ()

After figuring out the pillar caps in my sport sedan were beyond repair.

This part although rumored as such is not being reproduced by anybody.

I of course tried Mister More Door...67 airvair Mark Corbin first off.

He had none but suggested I call Jackie J who was reported to have some.

Jackie only had one side but said she knew people who have the other side.

On vacation in Florida she drove 100 miles out of her way to pick one up.

That is the kind of Corvair person the keeps this hobby alive and well.

A perfect driver side and a perfect passenger plus a very good driver.

Thank you Jackie and I wasn't expecting the extra driver side piece.

Jackie is 1 of the great ones and I always look forward to seeing her at the Homecoming. She always shows up with many items there for sale. It is a shame her guy George J. is no longer with us.

As my old time garage man used to say, Tim "slobbered a bib-full" there. George was and Jackie still is some of the best people of the Corvair hobby. With assistance from her many friends, Jackie has continued her late husband's vending of high quality NOS and used parts. Honesty and integrity are their hallmarks.

What is nice about the Corvair hobby is that Jackie is not the only vendor with such qualities. The list is long, filled with many distinguished people ranging to great and small alike, and all favorites of mine.

It seems that, if indeed maybe the only, good fortune I've ever had is to be able to count as friends the many parts vendors in the Corvair hobby, who are the most helpful, friendly, honest, and indeed nicest people on the face of the planet. They are people I love dearly. And that is something I've learned doesn't get said enough to those we love, "I love you!", particularly before it's too late and they are gone. Learned that with my dad's passing in '05.

When was the last time you said that to a dear friend or relative?

-Mark

Possibly but it would take a large format printer with expensive media to produce a piece that would be close to the strength of steel. A lot more expensive than buying a second car and cutting it up! Maybe one day they will be cheap enough to put one in the garage. I suspect I will be gone by then.

John: I already have them thanks to Jackie.

Bob: These are made of plastic not steel.

Created with a 3D printer? That's a great question Lee. I wonder if any one here would know if that was possible? Maybe Clark's?

There is only one Jackie! Sorry to hear about George - He had been quite sick for a long time.

The person in this thread was also looking for a pair of these in a thread titled "Is this part hard to locate?" [corvaircenter.com]

If there are more to be had, it might benefit the individual in the above referenced thread (stiffneck).

For what it's worth, when I install one of these I don't put any torque on the top screw, in fact I leave it a little loose. I just install the screw for image.

Would a mold using fiberglass or carbon fibre work?
