Very interesting. Al Lane's '66 LOS turbo is body #705 with a 12B build date. My '66 LOS AC Corsa is body #708, also with a 12B date, yet those 2 lower body number turbo cars are both 12E dates. Wonder what was going on there?

They were stock piling bodies until they were called for.
If you look at the 69 registry you will see that last half dozen cars had 4D build dates and the cars that preceded them had 5A build dates. The body numbers were also skewed all over.

My 1966 LOS Turbo coupe is a 12C week build Body number 773
Those two "twins" are definitely a couple strange ones.
Perhaps were constructed to be "show" cars - They have the bling - such as the full tinted glass, Chromed-out Turbo engine bay, Remote drivers mirror, rear speaker & antenna, full set of DeLuxe brushed stainless seat belt buckles.

What I also find interesting, is that the body number must have been assigned first, then the date later. IE, if they made the body with tag attached and the body pushed back in a corner, it would have 12B dates - when it came into the assembly plant from Fisher body. If the body was held out for 3 weeks, they must not have finished the data tag until the 12E week than rivet it to the frame rail. I always thought the data plates came attached from
Fisher body already fastened to the rail. What do you think Lee?

It is my understanding that the bodies were ordered in units or groups with specifics as to how many of each model as well as options. This "order" was also submitted to Tonawanda to build the required engines to batch the car as well as the assembly plant to insure that all needed parts were on-hand in order to not impeded progress on the assembly line..
At a given point, the TRIM tag would be stamped to match the order requirements. The tag would follow the body through the build in order for the correct panels to be installed. It wasn't until a specific stage that the "DATE" was stamped (near completion or at completion) that the tag was affixed to the frame rail.
So in order for the dates and body numbers to be out of sequence, the order would have been processed and the trim tag stamped, but the order for the body to be "shelved" while other orders were either processed ahead or other wise prioritized.
Once the need for the "hold" was gone, the body was finished and date stamped.
I have seen the same thing with VINS...where the VIN to body number was out of sequence...

Can not speak for #593 since I know nothing about it's history, but can speak for #594 since it first came into my life when purchased off the back lot of Santa Fe Chevrolet in 1968. By chance some time later I met the original owner who traded the Corsa in for a new Camaro. He said, and he gave me no reason to doubt, that he special ordered the Corsa with "every" available option except telescopic column, he was barely over 5' tall, and FM since at the time FM was virtually non-existent in the northern New Mexico airwaves.
And for what it is worth the serial sequence number is 21 higher on #593, ...141 on #594 versus ...162 on #593.
