Seat Track Spring Location - 1961 Monza Bucket Seats
Posted by: MonzaJPD61 ()

I made poor notes when removing seat tracks for my re-upholstery job. Now in the process of reassembling and am not sure if the spring goes on the track with or without the adjustment handle/lever and exactly where it goes.

If anyone has a photo or a diagram or just the answer, it would be appreciated, I've searched the forum, checked the Assembly manual and shop manual to no avail.

See attached photos. Spring goes on forward rail notch and hooks underneath the rail as shown. This is a 60 Monza.

Ok, your photos help a lot, I'm almost there....

Both tracks (left & right for each bucket seat) have the save attachment points where the spring could go; is the spring on the track with the adjustment lever on it or the other track that has no adjustment lever?

Thanks for your help!

Both sides of the seat have a spring. Won't work properly with one.

It's purpose is to pull the seat forward when released.

Makes sense. Odd that my car only had one spring per seat when I took it apart. Both seats were shorted one spring.

Thanks again, appreciate the help!

So for a bucket seat, which of the 2 tracks does the one spring go on?
