I Need AC Hose Advice For My '65 Monza, Where To Buy?
Posted by: UGLYTRUK ()

My choice of AC hoses is what's holding up the completion of my '65 Monza. I was thinking the best thing to do is use the modern barrier hose, and maybe even soldering fittings into my condenser to use more modern o-ring screw together fittings.
Can anyone help?

Most of my flaps sell the original a/c hose if you want to stay "Stock"

It's what I used

There are shops here that construct hose and fittings to order. Check around your area.

Agree with Steve. A/C supply companies sell "weld on" fitting to shops to upgrade the evaporator to the new fittings. Any aluminum welding should be done by a qualified welder!

As far as I know, all the new hoses are barrier style. Folks here claim you can make them work on the old "barb" fittings, but the hose companies warn against it. Some A/C suppliers make cut and fit hose and fittings, but the fittings use a "bead" fitting that won't cut the barrier hose. Look for limousine, truck, bus A/C supplies which are designed for custom installs.

Note that I'm not normally a publicity hound, but in this case I would have appreciated the mention that those pictures of the hose lengths areye rolling smileye shots of my personal notes that I made on my own copy of the dealer kit's installation instruction sheets. I do appreciate being mentioned for any work of mine whenever it is so widely published or distributed.

As soon as we can get the hose fitting retrofit situation settled, we may be able to get the Andrew Valdez finished and out of here.

And since my own project car is nearing the first coat of color and that means it won't be long before I'll need the space in my shop for it, finishing his car would please both of us immensely. grinning smiley
