1965 performance springs (where to buy)

I'm in need of front performance springs for my corvair. Clarks told me they where out of HD springs and did not know when they where going to get more in... So I'm kind of lost on what to do now. Any advice where I can pick up some HD springs would be great!

The Pinto front springs work, may be a little stiff for the street. Theres a pretty good choice for rears from the dirt track dealers as its a std Pig tail, try Speedway or Southwest Speed. Mike

I'll add that I contacted Coil spring specialties on-line about a year ago and stated the make, model, etc. and got a quote that was higher than Clark's. I mentioned it to a buddy who gave me the original spring part number and told me to request a quote again - hmmm. So submitted the part number and got another quote that was 20% lower!!!! - Very odd.

I just went with Clark's as they are easy to deal with and the springs were fine.

I have been told from multiple sources that Clark's gets their springs from Coil spring specialties. But yes, they are not cheap!

Coil Spring Specialties does a good job and are easy to work with. They built a pair of HD rear springs with a 1" lift for my 66 Corsa.

I went with coil spring specialities and they were great. I did a 2" drop in front and a 1" drop in the rear. Factory HD spring rate plus 10%. '66 Corsa.

I have a build thread I've been neglecting on the other site if you want pics.

Search "County98's Learn as I go thread".

What was the part number your buddy gave you?

I have CSS working on a set of springs for me now. I started with the stock HD springs and modified from there. I gave them the drop I wanted and the wheel rate. They will engineer them and then I will review the specifications to be sure they are what I want. Not too expensive yet and they seem to be able to make anything.

I also called KC Raceware and talked to them. The owner is great and very knowledgable about racing Corvairs as he has one. The specifications he talked about are full on racing. Really developed stuff. What he runs is so extreme, you better trailer to the race and have your braces tightened before you drive. Super tight and good for all out racing but not for the street. We are going to talk again so I can discuss street/race options.

Both worth talking to for sure if your looking to have springs made versus cutting stock springs down.

I'll post the final specification of my springs once I settle on them. Just in case anyone else wants the same outcome without the PHD in suspension I have tried to get in the last few weeks.
