OT Need to see if anyone can repair a part for me
Posted by: coleslaw31 ()

Just getting some feelers out there seeing if I can find someone who could possibly repair this. Its part of a clutch system for my 65 Harley golf cart. I have 4 of these that all have the same issue. A couple also have a piece of the nose broken. It's aluminum and all the ones I have found online are all the same condition! Side note this is the same drive system they used on the Harley scooters.

Take it to your local aluminum welder and have it welded up.

Just showing off my hotrod! 64 Harley Davidson golf cart. Ran them from 63-82 (became more popular during AMF's reign) and took up 1/3 of the golf cart market. Hoping to have this bad boy running this winter. I just love oddball stuff like this. From what I have gathered about this particular model is it uses a built in starter/generator system inside the flywheel which was designed by Siba? I found Siba made electronics for micro cars over the pond and later was absorbed into Bosch.

Cart is in remarkable shape to be from 1964. Engine will be completely gone through but all is there. I want to do a full resto in the future down to rerunning new fabric covered wires for the harness. Of course plan right now is to just get it running and enjoy it.

Love the 3 lug pattern this thing has.. Lug nuts are tiny and never seen anything else like it. It is a 2 stroke 5 horse engine and uses a gear box they call the "reversing unit" later models used a switch which made the starter turn the engine forward or reverse which eliminated a lot of weight and production costs I am sure.

Is it a four stroke or a two stroke engine?

2 stroke all years were. Harley as far as I know was the first to make a economical gas cart mostly due to the clutch system. Soon after the rest followed suit and most parts are still produced for them mainly due to ezgo using the same parts up to the 90s.

Haha when you golf but you don't have all day huh? That is a creation right there not quite sure it's easier than some welding up on a flange haha.

If you could change the thread to 64 Harley Cart build or whatever? Got a local who is going to do the welding on my flanges for me can't wait to see how they look. Also the emblem on the cart is cracked and is plastic wondering if a replacement can be made by anyone here? Darn things don't exist and are never seen or reproduced anywhere. Plan is just to clean it up best I can and pop it on with the crack until I can get a replacement.

Light Scan and 3-D print? Then the painting and lettering would need to be done.

Maybe a local Tech School would do as a training project? Once they have the math model, have them print extras for sale!

Good Luck...

I had a Sears lawn tractor that had a reversing gear box. It had 2 beveled gears in it on one shaft, push the shaft one way it would go forward, push it the other it would go in reverse. Of course in the middle was neutral.

I have an MTD with the same transmission. Best cutting mower out of all I have had. This one is a 93 model. Better than any Craftsman I have bought new since 2005. It was given to me 3 years ago.
