() Date: February 21, 2005 03:09PM The Speedometer is broken on the current dash I have for my '63 monza convert. I'm trying to remove the light switch and ignition switch to use in a working speedo dash. Can you pull the light switch knob off? How do you get the ignition switch out? Thanks, Tom C Re: Help needed for removing light switch and ignition switch Posted by:

() Date: February 21, 2005 03:27PM On lates the release for the knob is atop the switch (small button about the size of your smallest fingernail) while holding it down pull out. Unplug the wiring harness then unscrew the retainer for the switch body. Re: Help needed for removing light switch and ignition switch Posted by:

() Date: February 21, 2005 07:46PM Hello Tom: Reach under the dash and feel the opposite side of the light switch from where the wires plug in. If you continue to feel and press down, you will find a spring loaded button, pull the light switch knob out and then while pushing slightly back in with the knob, press the spring loaded button down and then pull outward on the knob. Sometimes it takes a time or two to get everything in place just right but it comes out easily. On the ignitions switch you need a key that works and a paper clip. Turn the key into the lock position (since you are working with an EM) and you will see a small hole in the chrome cover. Insert the straight end of the paper clip into that hole and you will feel a spring loaded button. Push inward on the paper clip to push the button inward and with your other hand turn the key further to the CCW past the lock position and then pull the entire tumbler with the key outward. After removing the tumbler you can remove the outside knurl nut and the switch itself will fall out from the other side of the dash. No need to remind you here to remove the ground cable from the battery first--correct?? Regards, Steve Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum. |
