Picking up Argon bottle for the tig this weekend. The electrodes I ordered came in a week later than they should have, because our postal service brought them from Texas to California via NC!
(??!!!)
The welder is AC only, so it will be interesting. My first experience with TIG, so it will be a learning experience.
Also looking for small sandblaster.

Got another tool for the garage. I needed a power tool capable of making clean cuts. A scroll saw was my first thought that would make oil cooler side covers simpler to produce.

I found the Blade Runner by Rockwell that fit the bill. It was only $99 versus 130 - 200 for a table scroll saw. I quickly made 3 outboard side covers in about an hour. Tomorrow I will cut out the inboard side cover with the large hole.

Here are some key details of the saw.

Sets up in seconds to cut wood, metal, tile, aluminum or plastic
Lightweight and easy to carry, weighing less than 15 lbs
Instant, tool-free blade changes & compatible with any 4" t-shank jigsaw blades
Easy-to-use, both hands are left free to control your cuts
Dedicated steel rip fence with large scale for accurate rip cuts
On-board storage for miter gauge, rip fence and blades

ps: I posted a photo of the 3 side covers using scrap metal and snips. Not bad but not smooth enough, Scrap metal now since they are not professional looking.

Solid car, really nice driver, 55k original miles.
Should make a nice project for him.

Along those lines... I picked up an '85 El Camino from a friend recently. It had a few minor issues and he was ready to move it along. I certainly don't need more cars now, but the deal worked out well for both of us. A few days of work for me and it is all sorted out and running great. My 7 year old son certainly loves it already.

I have my rampy for regular truck duty, but its hard to not like the ride and convenience of the El Camino.

I'm really wanting a G-Body the I can use the frame from to put under a Corvair, retirement project maybe in a few years. Currently cleaning and organizing the shop, plan on working on my Blazer after my three month long overtime period is over around Thanksgiving. Latest is lighting upgrade, I put two four foot four lamp fluorescent fixtures with LED lamps installed, huge difference.

Just picked up this Soda blaster to clean up the old 110. Already found 2 other tasks for it. Also got 50 pounds of soda.

I found a couple of quick release C-clamps. Saw some in action to secure a bench grinder with wire & polishing wheels on it. Got 2 of the 6" clamps to secure my polishing grinder down to the bench it is on.

You said it. I love being able to knock the led work light over and not breaking the halogen bulb.

I think Dave Motohead can tell us more about soda blaster use and results. He did awhile back in another discussion.

I have moved away from using sand except for heavily rusted items. I have 2 HF Blast boxes. One has screened playground sand. I have to put halogen work lights in it 2-3 days prior to use to dry the sand out. The other has #13 extra fine glass beads. A bit expensive to get enough beads in the box to start, but the box is ready to use when you are. Plus it can clean all materials. Sand is rough on soft metals. I have cleaned carb bowls and tops with it, along with other aluminum engine components.

The reason for the soda blaster is to do large aluminnum items like this 110 engine I am reviving. It won't fit the blast box and too expensive to waste glass beads in the outdoor blast method. Let soda go to the wind as you use it. You might be able to trap some by surrounding the item by tarps. And sweep up some as you go.

I've seen blasting with dry ice pellets, only thing to clean up is the crud that comes off the part.

My 2005 had 116,000 miles on it and these will go 200k+ and even tho I was not intending on replacing it..... about 1/3 off MSRP made me jump at this New 2016!

Off to Death Valley in May. Then Glacier National in August.smiling bouncing smiley

I've added a bunch lately. I sold my benchtop HF media blasting cabinet and got the larger free-standing unit... I put in a real air compressor (CH/60 gallon vertical)... a 125,000 BTU shop heater... small oxy-acetylene torch set... and of course, THIS:
