Tells us what is new in your garage..

I will be tearing the front suspension off of UV231 soon and I need to be able to clean all the parts.

If all goes well I will have this soon.

Tank size 43-1/5L x 20-1/2W x 10-5/8H in.

I found this LED light to use under the Vair. It will keep the heat down compared to the Halogen work light I have used in the past.

ps: Coworker is a member and got me one for much less. It was on special ($32. plus ship).

New in my garage is this scissor lift. It is rated at 6000 lbs. and will lift to 60 inches. Cost is $1500.00

No more crawling under a car 18 inches off the ground.

Tony:

You are correct. It is the lighting to have. Good subject for another discussion.

I still have my halogen work light and a 25 ft shop light with a rough service bulb in it. Those are for the cold days. This LED work light and a 10 ft Sears LED shop light are for our warm months (April through November).

I finally got the laboratory cabinets installed and a work top made from two layers of 3/4 plywood and a top of white MDF for looks.

I had installed the upper cabinets a year ago.

They look so much better painted white than the ugly green they were when I picked them up.

Now to put some greasy Corvair parts on them and get them acclimated!smileys with beer

They did survive a Northern Virginia Corvair Club meeting on Saturday. It was a good clean pace to set the doughnuts.grinning smiley

I just bought one of these recently. It's a Weller WES51 soldering station. After years of using $20 soldering irons, getting frustrated, and giving up (crimping) I can't believe how fast and easy this thing makes soldering even thick wire like 10 or 12 gauge. It's so powerful you have to be careful on smaller wire diameters...turn the heat down or it will melt the insulation in about 3 seconds!

I bought some extra tips in different shapes/sizes with it too.
I wish I'd have bought it 20 years ago!

I have so many garage sale soldering irons, I never know what to expect as far as which one will actually heat up the wire lol.
I was thinking to buy a illuminated magnifying glass, like one would use to repair watches or radios.

I got one of these HF magnifying glasses to help with soldering small items. Works good when I need that 3rd hand. I "C" clamp it to the bench to keep it from moving around.

The new lamps are led, do they offer a clamp-lit item?

Like the picture shows, typically you can run the Weller solder stations at 700 °F (70 on the scale) for most work.

I still use a Weller D8200 as my go to quick soldering tool. I'm old school. I have many around the house and garage. Keep those tip nuts tight!

Unless I'm soldering a hole in a fuel tank, then it is the American Beauty 100 Watt soldering iron. Note, I'm not suggesting this to anyone, just saying what I use.

Nothing wrong with good crimp joints. The operative word being "good". Then protect them from moisture and other elements (salt).

After 5 months sifting thru boxes since moving to the new house, I have the Greenbrier IN the garage!! Does that count?!?
Now, the other side still has its own gravitational field, but we did jam pack my explorer with "stuff" and dropped it at the goodwill store over the weekend. There is a small chance of actually getting a second car in the garage by summer, if work allows some time off.

Ohhh, that scissor lift looks very nice. Lying on the concrete just doesn't feel good anymore, especially the next morning.

I like the incandescent lamp for heat in the winter the only problem I have is I drop them and they burn out right in the middle of trying to do something under the car with the Led that woulnt be a problem. This thread is great,I like seeing what others are getting for the garage. I like the scissors lift, how has it worked on your corvair?
