And a great choice in wheels too!
One of my all-time favorite styles. Albeit in modern aluminum and perhaps size chioces?
Even better!

Been a year on this one, anyone heard anything further about this project?

Interesting project, for sure.

I know it has been a long time since there has been any further info but I will give you a quick update.
The body is nearing completion. The running gear and suspension is finished and ready to go in. The engine is ready to be put back in and hooked up.

I had planned on having it at the Corsa-Con this year but I have been told it will not be finished until mid July.

Hope this satisfies some curiosity.

1Owner, I think you'll need to put some cylinder tins/baffles on that pretty engine if you haven't done so already.

Powder coated heads + powder coated block + electric fan = really really HOT motor.

If you are thinking about the sheet metal heat shrouds, they aren't necessary. The cabin heat will be electric also.

The engine is a blue printed all custom power plant. Forged Pistons .030 over wilh roller rockers, balanced and matched compression ratios, a stage 4 cam and 1000 cfm EFI and tuned headers. The engine is expected to put out about 250-300 hp at something approaching 7000 rpm.

P.S. I hope Valenti will update this as completion gets closer with more specifics than I can provide.

John Brakke's road race motor made approx 230 at the crank. John's motor ran an Isky 330 cam, tons of head work, weber carbs, angle exhaust, etc... All the tricks. This motor doesn't even have angle exhaust. Your builder is a bit beyond optimistic. Corvair motors do not shed heat through the cylinders. They primarily do this through the heads.
I'm not telling you to insult you or disparage your build, but to give from experience that came the hard and expensive way. At a bare minimum, please out lower cylinder baffles on. You can even cut them and slid them in so you don't have to undo work already done.

Here are the problems I see, 1st you are missing the Cylinder Baffles, Not the heater tins, the cylinder baffles go under the cylinders before the push rod tubes go in, they do 2 things, make the cylinders cool evenly and create more pressure for the air to be forced over the heads, 2nd Problem, powder coating the heads and block make them retain heat and not cool efficiently, + the 3rd problem, that electric radiator fan will not cool the engine, coupled with the missing baffles, and the powder coated parts, this is a recipe for a disaster and melt down, Then add the fact you think it will make 300 hp, even with all the parts in correct working order on a stock cooling set up Corvair heads do not cool enough with those HP numbers.

the car & the engine.......everything is top notch!

......but......if your going to drive the car for more than a few miles.....that electric fan wont cool the engine. it wont get close to cooling the engine. sad smiley

the 1000 cfm efi is great........but that engine @ 7k rpm will only use less than 400 cfm.

i dont want to sound like im dissing your car.....im not. your car & engine are awesome.....but you need to do something w/the elect fan........it wont work & youll melt your engine.

did you buy the elect fan from someone or did the guys @ valenti build it?

the 1000 cfm efi.........that a overkill.........but it should work ok. smileys with beer
