So far replaced switch and added mechanical gauge.
After stuffing about to get the switch sealed, ran it for 30min .. hot at idle about 12PSI and in gear about 8PSI. Not light on ..
I'd say another faulty switch ..

No.... that's normal for a worn engine... below 7psi and the lifters will start clattering

Go to a thicker oil! What are you running now?

15W/40 ..

Even though Im in Australia and regularly see over 100F?

At the moment with the new pressure switch and mechanical gauge, it seems OK to me ... between 8-9PSI idling in gear when hot. The old switch was leaking which seems to me that it wasnt reading pressure properly. No weird noises or lifftler clatter at any time.

Id have thought at worse Id end up going to 10W/50 or the like?

If it's fine leave it alone...

20w50 but not 10

straight 30 wt is fine for Hot climates on worn engines.
