() Date: February 18, 2016 08:38PM There has been progress on the '65 Mustang 2+2! The bodywork is done and it's in primer. My body guy is going to let it shrink for a week before final blocking. (It has been blocked once already). Then, it's paint time! Black with red stripes. This is the first time I've seen the car with doors and a front clip so it's finally looking like a real car. Another month and it will be sharing the shop with the '60 "Basket case" car. In reality, the Mustang is even more of a basket case than the '60. The only parts on the Mustang beyond the basic shell was the front and rear suspension, and those parts have to come off! The bottom picture isn't my car but this is where I'm headed. () Date: February 20, 2016 07:12PM My best friend just finished a 66 2 plus 2 resto mod....TCI front end, 5 or 6 speed trans...modified 302 or 5.0....petty blue color....glass insert in the roof vent..air...etc...its a nice one. The last one he fixed up was a 67 390 GT fastback...he was asking 45M for it and sold it within an hour of showing it at Pigeon Forge...it was black with red interior...it was nice too...It went to Dallas Tx....59M asking...the next time we saw it was in Germany...again...it was a very nicely done car. () Date: April 17, 2016 09:00AM It's BACK! ![]() My paint and body guy, Karl Fuller "Maddog Kustoms" of Spokane, WA, did his usual amazing work. You could easily read a book in the reflection of any body panel. I'm so pleased! Now I have to get to the meat of the project; installation of all the components and construction of the interior, doors, glass, trim, and so-on. () Date: April 18, 2016 04:05AM Great job .. looks great! People often talk trash about Mustangs, but they are great cars and having parts availability and interchange just makes them more suitable as regular drivers. Cant wait to see this one finished. () Date: December 17, 2017 08:56PM Well here we are almost a year since my last post. (It's been a tough year health-wise but I'm mostly back at it now) I've narrowed the Explorer 31-spline 8.8" disc brake rear axle and adapted a 4-link rear suspension kit. Man that was fun. It was supposed to fit but absolutely NOTHING fit! Such a deal. Next is the subframe-connector kit which connects the rear "frame rails" to the front "frame rails". After that, I'll start working on the rack & Pinion, Coil-over front suspension. Now that I have the rear trimmed out (lights, bumpers, EFI fuel tank, new backlite, polished trim) I will either start to trim-out the doors or the front end. I really like trimming-out a freshly painted car; that's my favorite part. One of my funny little observations: I probably have 300# of sorted nuts and bolts from various GM and German car projects. NONE of it works for a Mustang!! Tail light screws-Nope. Tail light nuts-nope, door latch screws-Nope. Bumper bolts-nope! So far I've had to purchase every little nut bolt and screw - I could build six Corvairs and not need a thing... ![]() Craig N.
