Just to follow up on my issues under this topic:

I received my IR gun, ran "Blue Bravery" (My Seven-Year-Old's name for the car) full-out on a rural road loop around town, then pointed the gun at the engine--

While the heads on the driver side appeared to be running hotter by about 20 degrees than the passenger side, and there were heat pockets near the former mechanical fuel pump mount as well as around the carburetor, the average temperature of my engine, in 104 degree weather, was just under 250.

I think it's safe to say my rebuilt distributor, and the fact that I have finally burned off all the excess oil and bad gas, has solved my overheating problem (if indeed I ever had one).
