'62 Rampside Joins the Fleet
Posted by: gerg ()
Date: October 15, 2014 06:56PM

Made one final trip to Montgomery today to pickup this 2 owner '62 Rampside. Previous owner's uncle bought it new at Selman Chevrolet in Orange, California. He was in the middle of refreshing / restoring when he passed away unfortunately. There are more new parts than I can take inventory of at this point, but the engine is complete and ready to go in. Much more to come.

The fellow went on a Clark's spending spree and purchased more than it probably needs. ALL wiring harnesses are there, complete front steering linkage, all rear suspension bushings etc. motor and tranny mounts (I assume), two pairs of commercial large vertical mirrors, every part needed to completely redo the headlights, complete dual exhaust setup, rebuilt carbs, 110Hp engine to go in, rear lenses, dome light . . . thats just the stuff I can remember.

This one goes on the lift as soon as the Monza is off. Plan to drive it to Lake Havasu in January for Buses By the Bridge, as well as the CORSA convention in TN next year.

Nice! A real deluxe too, judging by the ultra-rare deluxe FC glove box door. If you need rear reflectors, let me know; I've reproduced a "Better than NOS" replacement reflector.

At first I thought it was "Seamist Jade" like my Rampy (I've never seen another in that color) but the copper interior makes me believe it was originally a 554 Tangier Gold (copper color) rig. What's on the trim tag for a color code?

I'll look here shortly. I am super stoked about it!

There is also a new gas tank, float / sender and straps. Brake hardware for all 4 corners, and the main harness was optioned for a factory has heater. David took the heater out of the bed with some coupe seats thinking it didn't go with the truck. I saw the harness later and then realized the blocking plate under the dash looked awful much like the shape of the heater. 5 new tires too. Man, I've probably only listed 1/2 of what's in there. Certainly a treasure chest of parts to inventory tomorrow.

In not even certain where the body tag is on this thing smiling smiley

Craig replies: It's on the firewall, just in front of the emergency brake lever. There's very little info on it but the color is one of the bits that is on it...

Looks like the original paint had the inset in white judging by the door jambs.

What are these?

New mirrors:

Also found new set of window fuzzies and a basic shifter rebuild kit.

There are literally bags of hardware all over the place from Clarks. Gonna inventory in the morning.

Holy moly... That IS Seamist Jade with Cameo White stripe! The only real one I've seen. I guess the PO was planning a change because the interior should be fawn (never copper in my understanding)

Here's what it would look like with a paint job:

NICE! I do not recognize those 2 items. And what is that "knob" mounted on the steering column support brace?

There is some crazy electronic sound machine on the steering column. I'll get a pic in the morning. Aftermarket for sure.

Just found 2 Clark's FC rear reflectors and screw sets.

And an ultimate rear suspension kit.

Surpassed $1200 in Clarks parts alone so far. Holy Moly!!

I am not sure what the previous owner was actually going to do in the end. I'm pretty sure the repaint happened when his uncle owned it. This is turning out to be quite to find.
