Mike,
Yes, it is getting interesting!
Please take good photos of the VIN plate, the Fisher Body ID plate, the panel between the rear window and the engine lid and also the transaxle lower assembly.
The 1964 models have several unique features to help ID the year yours was actually made.
Would like to see that the VIN plate is actually spot welded to the body as it should be.

Note the two spot welds at each end of the stainless steel VIN plate. W in the middle denotes Willow Run assembly plant

This is the Fisher Body ID plate for the same car. Year codes match and WR Willow Run assembly plant matches as well.

Hi Dan,

here are the pictures. The first one is the VIN tag where you can read "GM Canada", that's why I thought my car was a Canadian model. From the VIN number we have a 1964 Monza convertible.

Second picture is the engine tag. The date is May 11th and the "ZH" is for 1964, PG, 95 HP. The year is the same as the VIN tag. But it say 95 HP, and I have the sticker of 110 HP on my fan shroud. Maybe shroud was replaced with one coming from a 110 engine.

Third picture is the boby tag. That's where I said: Wait a minute! 05B is for the date: second week of May that is pretty similar to engine date. "WR" is the assembly plant Willow Run, USA...VIN tag says Canada??? Style 62-967 is for Monza convertible 1962 not 1964 as VIN and engine say. Should a body from USA was sent to Canada 2 years after to be complete by Fisher???

The tags look likes the original ones, If they were replaced they were riveted like the original ones.

Mike

I smell something funny with how the VIN tag is attached with pop rivets.

Every EM I've seen had a welded VIN plate. I noticed the rivet thing too. It's also worrisome that the VIN plate says GM Canada while the Trim Tag says GM Detroit, Michigan. I'd compare to another similar Canadian Corvair before calling foul though. Maybe Bigwave Dave will chime in; he seems to know these sorts of details.

Hi,

Bigwave Dan gave me lots of good informations. He compared my pictures with the ones he have in archive. The body tag has the original rivets and has not been removed for sure. The VIN tag has not the original rivet used for Canadian Corvair. Never a body from USA was shipped to Canada to be completed. The Canadian Corvair where build up totally in Canada. I checked the engine head number and other mechanics parts, everything is from 1962. So my car is 100% original, never restored but this is not a Canadian model 1964. The VIN was definitely tampered and replaced in some time in history. Last year prior to buy the car, I asked a complete report from my Registration Office to know history of the car to if it was reported stolen or involved in an accident. They gave me history from 1985 since they don't kept archive before that. So my car is known to be a 1964 Canadian model and registered as is for the last 30 years...

Truly a 1962 but officially a 1964...

I am restoring a 1963 Rampside. The engine that was in the truck when I purchased it, has engine tin that looks like it is from a car rather than and FC. I have looked at all the Engine numbers and codes that can be found online, and cannot find a number that looks like the one stamped on this engine. Hoping someone can identify this engine number: TI 203RD

Thank you

Forward Control and Station Wagon dip sticks are accessed from the rear outside engine panel.

If your dipstick is on the top of the motor it is a passenger car application and not correct.

That doesn't make it bad because it still works fine...just a pain in the foot to get to.

Since your RU engines don't have the provision for the FC/Wag dipstick, they're 66-68 110hp, MT, Smog

The YN code was used for the 98 hp and 102 hp 145 engines plus the '64 110hp engines so you have to go by other clues on that one. Cylinder head numbers, Mag fan, belt guides, oil cooler, block webbing and so-on.

TI209YN T=Tonowanda Foundry. 1209 = December 9th assembly date.
T0II6YN T=Tonowanda Foundry, 0116 = January 16th assembly date.

These codes never included the year, unfortunately. (68-9 did have a partial vin which did give us the year in that range)

Photos would help too.
