In the links section the link to corvair vin info is dead. Maybe this site can be linked [www.mkellstrand.com] . I'm sure many of you know it, but the dead link is annoying.

Matt has nothing to do with it, Royce is the only one with access...Email him!

Actually, I meant the "Matt" that works for Royce and that handles some Forum programming stuff - I should have specified "which" Matt...;-)

Here's another one. It's from an insurance site. It will teach you how to read the VIN yourself, not just decode it for you. If you go to the root link, you'll also be able to look up other cars.

You can't get that info for a Corvair by just using the VIN, but depending on the year and location the car was built, you should be able to figure out nearly everything from the Fisher body tag in the engine compartment. Post a picture of the tag and we'll try to help.

Hello Steve,

As Steve pointed out you can't get the dealer/sales info by VIN for our little cars as all of the records for sales for the Corvair were housed in a warehouse by GM. There was a fire in that building and ours, along with much other stored history was lost.

Your trim tag will tell you the options that required special mod's by Fisher for the body. If you car is a 65 or later and has the Protecto plpate, I can tell you more.

The other thing is finding a build sheet behind the dash or under/behind seats/door panels can give more tidbits...

The only good way is having the original Window Sticker and most are not that lucky.

Post your trim tag any info you have, I will help, I can tell you what was standard for your year/model also.

We need a little more info,,,

The Fisher Body Tag info is: 65-10737 wrn 6198

Car is a '65 monza 10537W with the 140 hp engine. It seems to have the Corsa body work and instrument pkg with the 140mph speedo.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Steve K - We need more info, unless that's the only thing on the body tag! Give us everything on the tag, from top to bottom, left to right and row by row.

10537W is for a Monza, 65-10737 is the tag for a Corsa. If the info you posted is correct, then your car may have been re-vin illegally. Double check Vin number and bodytag and post the info and we can help by checking to see if they match. What is the engine code on this car? Corsas had RB code.

I personally would be scared of a long distance purchase with the VIN not matching the Fisher tag the 10537 on the VIN should also be the same on the Fisher body tag not 10737.....
