Went to the local car show last night. My fiancé drove the sedan and I took the new Corsa. A pretty 65 Monza vert joined us too.

Thanks for the pic comments. I have a fairly basic point-n-shoot Nikon Cool Pix that I got used for $200 on eBay. It's not an SLR but it has a hot shoe, flip out screen for overhead or ground level shots and it outperforms most fixed lens cameras under low light conditions. All of those photos are hand-held with no flash.

I've been going to this car show since 1990. They bill it as the longest continuously running weekly car show event in the US. The only time they don't have a show is if Christmas falls on a Saturday. Attendance in the summer is lower due to the heat. It was 102 when I took those photos. In the winter it's tough to find a parking space.

Back to driving the Brier to work, my summer water pumper (with AC) developed a loud rod knock last week. 94 olds 88 with GM 3800 - only 182,000 miles on it - such junk (ggg)!

I park in front of the museum, but I work in a building right behind it, not visible from this angle. The Brier doesnt get daily use, but it rarely sits for more than a few days without going somewhere.

Saturday afternoon my 83 year old grandmother fell stepping out on her patio to let the dog out. An ambulance was called to take her to the hospital. X Rays showed that she has spiral fractures to both bones in her ankle. They put her in an air cast, told her to come back Monday, and sent her home despite our pleas to have her admitted. She is neither indigent nor uninsured. Yesterday, after calling nearly 30 ambulance and medical transport companies to find someone that could take her back to the hospital we were unable to find anyone that would pick her up from her home for a non-emergency call. Apparently the liability of dealing with all the variables of a home pick up are more than they are willing to take on. After a long list of questions regarding the layout of her home (single story ranch), the VA was the only one willing to pick up this widow of a WWII veteran. Unfortunately the earliest they could do it was Tuesday afternoon. Rather than have my Grandmother sit and suffer untreated for another day we came up with a plan. Putting her in a car would involve multiple transfers into a vehicle with cramped leg room, each transfer carrying the possibility of further pain or injury. We borrowed a wheelchair from our church, loaded her into it and rolled her up into the Corvan on a plywood ramp. With the wheels bud against the rear floor step the chair fit snugly between the bench seat brackets. The brackets provided a good place to tie off the chair. My mother and uncle rode in the rear with her while I drove the 5 miles to the hospital without incident. My grandmother remarked that the van rode better than the ambulance.

I've hauled a wide variety of cargo and passengers in my van but this is by far the most unique. Needless to say that I am beyond mad at how @#$%& up the medical system in this country is. Why was she not admitted? Why would they not come get her again? Considering the resources we have in this country, why did I have to haul my grandma in the back of a truck like Granny Clampett? Apparently if you become sick or injured it's best if it's on a weekday during normal business hours.
I'm going to spare her the indignity of an action shot photo but here is a pic of the van floor and brackets that saved the day.

Please pray for Grandma Mary's recovery if you are so inclined.

Drove to Watkins Glen Vintage race and met up with 2 other Corvairs there, only 1 photo though with Fred M. and his Yenko.
This is in the boot area of the track.
Lots of thumbs up!

All the tools are on the job site today and no need to transport them home, so the 65 became the daily drive today. Beautiful weather...70 and sunny with no humidity to speak of. Had to stop to pick up some small materials...

This was just after a nice spirited drive up 24 W from Colorado Springs to Cripple Creek. Nothing like a turbo on the twisty mountain roads. Went from 6,000 feet to about 9,000 feet in elevation. We did some cruising around up there as well. Last years Tri State meet.

Stopped to get a couple bags of softener salt today. Got another one with a bunch of fence pickets hanging out of the back seat too, but can't find it.
