Hey, maybe he is trying to corner the market so he can double the price and make tons of money.
Just for grins e-mail him back, tell him all you accept is bank wire transfer and see what he says.

Or you might be lucky and he'll send you cash:

I am just curious what he was going to do with 170 flex plates!?! Even if he did get them free.

Is there some sort of 60's Corvair flex plate market I don't know about?

Was there something else, then putting them on a Corvair, that these could have been used for?

Windmill hubs.

With the benefit of being a "flex plate" in a rotational application he's sure to cure the hub shear that has plagued high speed windmills for so long.............................hot smiley

Maybe he just wanted an address where the stuff is stored so someone can break in later and take what they can get.

Just a couple things I see.

Ltd,= Limited - That is more of a Euro/Canadian thing. Not saying no one here uses it, I just have never seen it used here.

And for communicating within our own borders, no one here bothers to put United States, in the address. It is just a given.

It reminds me of a tele-marketer that I spoke with once. She spoke really good English, but she kept telling me that she was in "Pennsylvania, Philadelphia." I told her we do not say it that way, after a while she admitted that she was in India.

If you have a computer savy friend, see if they can run a trace on the IP address and see where the emails originated from.
If it is within the states, you could turn it over to the attorney general's or head of consumer affairs in that state and let them handle it.

I get emails like that all the ime but I never answer tham and just put them in the spam folder.

If anyone were to make a deal the CC would go through but it takes a month for the bank to find out that there is no such card and then reverses the charges to you plus fees and even though you waited 2 weeks to ship it is is to late. You are out money and parts.

This is no different than where the person wants to buy your car, sends you a money order and the shipper of their choice will pick up the car. Even waiting 2 weeks for the MO to clear they come get the car but 2 weeks later you find that the bank wants their money back because the MO was no good.

There are all kinds out there trying to get free goods or money!

I used to think a cashiers check was as good as cash.

As part of the deal (with my wife) to get my Corvair, I had to sell the flattrack bike I was planning on contesting vintage races with, a 250cc Can-Am in a Champion frame. A guy from Florida contacted me & sent a cashiers check.

I contacted my bank to see if it was okay to cash and let the bike go. They would cash the CC, but said the buyer could cancel within 4 weeks of the issue date and I would be libel for the money. They said to play it safe, wait 4 weeks. Although the guy wasn't thrilled, he understood after checking with his bank.

It just wasn't worth the risk of losing the bike AND the money. It wasn't worth getting a lawyer and fight with a guy across the country for around $3K. If someone is honest, they will probably understand the wait.

They don't want any parts. They want you to make arrangements to pre-pay the shipper. That's the only purpose of the scam. If you contact the suggested shipping resource, you graduate to the next level of the scam where they ask for the transport deposit fee (to be refunded on delivery of course).
