Could not Resist... Vairy Cool, Clear Corvair - thumbs up
Date: June 09, 2014 09:51AM

Found this up for sale, and pulled the trigger. I've never seen this done before.

Apparently it's a vacuformed copy of the 1/25 scale AMT model kit - 1966 Corsa Coupe.
The awesome effects of the clear body, interior and the painted drivetrain and suspension is fantastic, IMHO. Might have to "roll down" the side windows....

I'll add red lenses tail-lights and I think I'll bare metal foil to all the bright trim on the body. It's got a turbo-charged emblem on there, and I've got the proper kit parts to build a turbo setup, so that might go in there too along with plug wires, battery cables.

If it comes apart without destruction, I'll put a detailed dash panel in there, since the coolest Corvair instrument panel deserves a little more attention...

Can't wait 'til it gets here!

That is really cool! The color choices remind of that component subassembly picture in the '65 brochure. Were the coil springs purple maybe?

That is too Kool. At first I thought it might be a slot car body, lots of them were blow molded in clear. But with the clear floor pan and interior takes it out of the slot car realm.

When you get it check and see if there is an manufacturer's name or information on it somewhere.

Never seen one before.

Great buy.

I think it was custom made by someone with a lot of time using an existing model kit and a home vacuum forming setup. Very cool!

You already can...if you get a model drawn up. You can buy an entry level 3D Printer for the price of a reasonable flat panel TV.

I used to have clear models of a V8 and a Wankel (rotary) engine. The starter spun the engine crank, and they fired bulbs for spark plugs. It would be really cool to have a corvair scale clear flat-6...
