JUST FOR FUN ...... How many COMPLETE Corvair Engines do you have on your property ?
Posted by: ROD ()
Date: May 12, 2014 09:33PM

Im not talking about motor parts scattered all over the place Im talking about motors that are being maintained , on standby, or complete cores just in case....

Im sitting on a meager 11 right now

Currently In vehicles:
Buggy 1 - mid engine mock up core
Buggy 2 - rear engine 140
Buggy 3 - Mid engine RR 140
Corsa coupe - 140 Tri port Weber
Corsa Vert - 140 Tri port Weber
Rampy - 140 stock

Garaged On stand by :
big bore Salih Tri port running
140 stock corsa motor running
big bore 3 liter / weber tri port / one hurt cylinder
140 core
140 core

I was just thinking ... Dang, there must be some serious collections out there of actual complete motors! COUNT THEM UP ?

Vairchet probably has the most Fresh Rebuilds...always 4 or 5 on a bench waiting....

I've got a Turbo'd car running great...with a complete bolt in spare ready...

my '67 110 /pg has a 4k mile 140 pg engine 100% ready to bolt in and bubba's old 95hp low mile '66 pg as well...

Engines get started every 6 months..

Wait...you can actually get them to run?

I own two Corvairs, neither of which runs. Now that I think about it, neither has an engine or a transaxle.

I need to fix that.

This topic struck a nerve here at the Caveman Garage which is located in a suburban subdivision with strict rules about how you can have fun on your property (grrrrr!). I have 3 1960 engines that are complete; 3 140 engines; 1 LM service crate engine; another 110 on the test stand; another 110 A/C engine nearing completion; a 1964 110 A/C engine complete and finally a 150 turbo engine less the turbo and carb. There are also a couple of short blocks less heads hiding somewhere down there.

Right now there are only three Corvairs on the property and each of them has a running engine (Well, Stubby will be running in a few days). So that makes 11 engines out of cars and 3 in their handy carrying cases.

To add to the confusion I also have several small journal 327 engines and an extra Corvette 350 and a spare 283 empty case under the workbench.

I need either a bigger garage or fewer engines!!!!!!!!!!!!! - CP

All of the following are PG engines
(1) EM 1964
(1) 140 - from UV248
At least (5) LM 110's
Not sure what else until I check the trailer and parts cars.

I haven't the same stash as some, but enough for me I suppose.
2 complete 60 engines.
1 running in the parts car, 1 sitting on an engine stand waiting for?
Also have 1 61 engine. It is now in the 60 and is running pretty good. Needs one seal to stop the only oil leak, but can't be fixed in the car.

Had looked into buying a 140 or a 150 turbo for the 60. Wanted that little extra, more than being an exact 60 engine. Had the turbo motor available, but changed my mind at the last moment.

2 140's in cars: '65 Corsa and a '65 sedan Powerglide.

1 110 with PG attached

1 140 that could be ready to go pretty quickly

If we're doing golf scoring, I win: only 1 engine, installed and running in the car.

Well a quick tally is 16 running in cars, that includes my T-bucket, Glen Pray Cord and the Shark, but not the V8 Corvair or the 4 cyl Corvair. Will be at the shop today so I can take off my shoes and count the complete engines in parts/project cars and those sitting around.

I'm a lightweight, 4, two in running cars, 1 in a "parts" car and one that just likes to get in the way in the garage.

Two in storage (Binyou EFI 140 and 64 GB 110)

Now if you want to start talking parts in boxes... 20 Tons! (Well one or two anyway.)

OTOH, I have something like 40 diffs and transmissions hanging around

This is fun. I thought I'd come out on the bottom. (On top if we're golf scoring)
65 110hp in my blue convertible
66 140hp in my red CORSA

65 140hp on my engine stand

Only 3 right now.
