() Date: January 31, 2021 09:08PM So having officially retired after 44 years, I celebrated my last day at work, just like my Father did 40 years ago! More fun to work on some remaining details on Dainer's Rampside. Sure like my EZ Car Lift. It's been my go to lift for about 10 years now! ![]() Off to another local Cars&Coffee! ![]() Corventure Dave Attachments: ![]() ![]() Re: Dainer's Rampy Project Posted by:

() Date: February 21, 2021 06:32PM Just a quick update. Just before I had my double hernia surgery last week, I did some simple service on Dainer's Rampside. I had a slight binding of the throttle linkage on the right hand carburetor at idle. Not a big deal, and easily corrected. Well today I was finally recovered enough to do some things around the man-cave and sitting there is the Rampy. So I fired it up and took a nice drive around town and enjoyed the smooth running 110 engine and great idle in drive gear at stops. Such a pleasure today in our sunny severe Kaliphornya winter weather. ![]() It's a shame the CORSA Convention has been cancelled this year. We'll just have to make plans for 2024. But we will be looking 4ward to Central Coast Corsa's Vair fest later this Spring. However, what a joy it was today, getting out after my surgery and driving The Rampside. ![]() Corventure Dave Re: Dainer's Rampy Project Posted by:

() Date: February 27, 2021 06:35PM Next project. Installing custom engine lid insulation. The Deluxe model Greenbrier FC's I know had insulation here. My 64 Brier has the retainers, tho the insolation was sucked away by the cooling fan decades ago!!! ![]() I had to modify the Rampside engine a bit to accommodate the VW hinges I installed. So this project has been in the thought process for quite some time. First I acquired the FC engine lid insulation from Clarks. I decided to back it up with upholstery board. That's the stiff cardboard used for backing door panel vinyl and other parts. I first measured the cardboard and cut to the sizes I needed for two panels. I had to shape one panel to clear the accessory oil bath air filter. Once I had the sizes figured out I cut the insulation, just slightly larger in order to hide the cardboard backing. Then I glued the two together and let dry over night. Next is to make up 3 of the wire retainers identical to the ones in my Greenbrier. () Date: February 27, 2021 06:51PM You're not going to like these comments...GGG Why do you want insulation on a Rampside? When will you start resizing / "View size", your pics....they are huge! You almost can't tell what's in the pic until you "scroll" around! 800x600 is the preferred size. MODERATOR Sea Mountain, between Charleston Harbor and Coos Bay! () Date: February 27, 2021 06:52PM I just know Matt is gonna love the photo size!!! Too bad we don't have a choice of "thumbnail" size on our site here, as others do. I'll keep trying to reduce the size! Any who... I made up 3 of the retainers using welding wire. Not a big deal. Probably the most challenge was making the eyelet loops. I just bent the wire around a 1/4 inch bolt. I also had to make the end tabs for the wire to slip into. Another easy job and I will mount them to the lid with Corvair flange head philips screws. ON to continue tomorrow! ![]() Corventure Dave Attachments: ![]() ![]() Re: Dainer's Rampy Project Posted by:

() Date: February 28, 2021 09:54AM Next attempt to resize the picture... from my little netbook laptop! ![]() Well, I finalized the project today. Was looking to clean up the bottom of the lid for display. Kinda like Late Model engine lids. I believe I managed to get the look I was going for, and keeping with the original OEM appearance. Now to ponder the next detail. There are always little details! ![]() Corventure Dave Well... that reduction did not work! ![]() Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/28/2021 09:55AM by corventure Dave. In the mean time it's looking like we'll be going to more Cars&Coffee gatherings. I'm not a coffee drinker.
