I think we've seen more of those 1 off '65 Spyder's than Olypmic Gold '69 #6000's, but only by about a dozen.

Yes it is and it's been there for a very long time, it saved the stock carpet under it but ruined the deluxe seat beltssad smiley They are hiding under the shag sadly.

I started thinking about about building it as a "Spyder" because so many people see it and the first thing they say is "nice Spyder" or "oh is that a Corsa Spyder" and so on. Sadly only person so far knew there was no such thing as a '65 Spyder or turbo option for a LM Monza. Not sure if I'll go with the Spyder emblems below the Monza cross on the fenders yet or not, I do have a Spyder 180 decal for the air cleaner though.

If it ever stops raining I might get some work done on the Monza. I have the Corsa cluster cleaned and tested, all gauges in working order, thermister tested good. Not going to question why there was one in my engine already just happy that I don't have to buy onesmiling smiley

Nothing wrong with making yours as a "Spyder". It's your car - enjoy!

If the 140 came out of a Corsa or even the heads came off an engine from a Corsa then that would be the reason for the thermister. All 65-66 Corsas had the head temp gauge, but only the turbo charged ones had the over temp buzzer.

Oh how I remember the over temp buzzer, didn't take long to set it off in my Corsa on boost. I figure the left head has been replaced with one from a Corsa, there were a lot of shroud bolts missing on that side.

Here is the poor '66 Monza 'vert, shame it's so rusty and has no options to speak of, power top, rear ant, padded dash and 110/PG are it.

Crown turbo installed and running, comes on boost MUCH sooner than the stock turbo, and it's a good thing I got a new turbo as the turbine was about to fly apart in the 180 uniteye popping smiley

Will do as soon as I get the PerTronix II and Flame Thrower coil installed, having a bit of ignition breakdown under boost with the stock points and coil ATMsad smiley

Coil was weak, swapped it for the one off the '66 and it runs great againsmiling smiley

Boost starts to come on around 2000 RPMs in first gear and is at full boost by 2500, and boy what a whine that Crown makes. I can't say how much boost really but the stock Corsa gauge goes a little past half way and stays there through every geargrinning smiley I'm not even going to think about what the speedo was saying as I didn't give it a glancecool smiley Video to come once I get someone to run the camera.

Factory Vac/Boost gauge? in HG![inches of mercury...1.7" hg to 1 psi ] not PSI!

Center of gauge is ZERO... no vacuum...no pressure / boost

Stockers go 3/4 to the right.. 7 psi /15" hg

You'll get it.... ggg

Have you checked the advance on the distributor yet? Stock curve and settings are not good...close.. but you need at least 28-29 degrees BTDC to make good boost and maintain it..

I've made several posts about it.

Gauge is going past 15+ inches (8 psi or so) Base timing is stuck at 4 before TDC. I have a Dale's advance/retard unit with the boost retard unhooked ATM due to the low timing. I'm running ported vac off the YH, total timing is 26 degrees at full advance.

Driving pretty hard on my way home the gauge showed around +20" or so. Going to borrow the boost gauge from my truck and see how much boost it really has. This Crown exhaust housing has the adjusting screw in it for setting when boost starts, I have it run all the way in.

I'm thinking this qauge might be lie as badly as the one in my Corsa did, at a true 15 psi it read +30 without fail.

That's correct... 15 psi is 30 inches of Mercury / HG.

I just want to be sure it's not going past 10 psi due to the stock pistons, not sure if the YH can flow enough to over boost the engine or not. Plans are to go forged soon but keep the YH and run however much boost it can make.

Wait until you test with the other gauge...it'd have to be a cold day for a YH to allow much over 15-16"..

That's what I was thinking but wasn't too sure, never got the YH on my Corsa to run long/well enough to know how much boost a good YH can make.
