Servicing auto. clocks for 35yrs.
Corvair Clocks 62-69.
Corvair/Corvair Truck Dash top mounted clocks included.
Factory Internal Serviced Movements(used)
& NOS Internal Clock Movements.
I can repair the existing movement,install a
nice used serviced/tested movement or install a
factory fresh NOS movement.
Movements can be shipped along with instructions
for the person who prefers to do the installation.
I really prefer a clock to be exactly like it was when
it left the factory.A factory clock "tics" !
I do quartz conversions at a customer's insistance.
I will do whatever the owner wishes.
Contact me for further information & pictures.

I'd wager that he's legit... and a broken clock is corerect twice a day, so what's the biggy?

And I like when the points spark apart every 20 minutes or so. It was one of my 1st discoveries on my '67 Pontiac

I have been in clocks 3/4 of my life and I'm 56 xxx
57 this month actually.I'm a corporate pilot aka..sky was a nickname from back in the 70's at the arpt. I started on my clocks back in 73'& just never quit.
I did the locals clocks & then word spread & spread.

I never did any real advertising,I never had to.Word of mouth & the quality of my work always was my advertising. ANyway, after I was layed off,I really started up the clock works.

.My repairs only cost $39.95 + return ship cost.

I've done buisness with him thru ebay, he's legit. quick turnaround, did an EM and Corsa clock for me. EM clock runs fine. Corsa clock I haven't installed yet. I don't think he does the diode thing or is aware of it but he did offer to drill a hole in the case back so I could add a drop of oil to lubricate it yearly if I wanted the ability to service it.

Hi,Thanks for word.
I installed diodes since back in the 80's.
I placed one on the hot lead between the terminal
and the mag or mags.
I quit that yrs.ago.An inline 3 amp.fuse
is simple & for the most part,I didn't want a clock
owner & sordering gun near those mags. You would
understand if you have seen some of the MR.fix its that I have seen
on a poor little clock.
The biggest factor I have seen is running a factory clock
24-7.Besides the lubrication hole I mentioned,DO NOT RUN
A FACTORY CLOCK 24.7.A battery dosconnect switch or dis-connect the battery.
I have been telling everyone for yrs.if they don't do one or the other, then the least they can do is to run the hotwire from the clock to a fuse that allows power only when the ign.is turned to accy.or On position. Then,on the days you are driving your Corvair, simply reach over & set the time, you will be good to go.
Doing one of the above will add yrs.to your clock's life. Not doing so will deduct yrs.from your clock's life.Up to the owner to decide.

Thank you Mr.Hartzler & the Northern Virginia Corvairs & Group Corvair
for your welcome.
I would prefer to "test the water" first so to speak & not jump
head long like I normally do before becoming a sponsor.
Let me see how this goes for a while.
Understandably,I have had more doubts about my service that anything.
Folks asking for customer's names, pictures of my work bench etc..
I do understand why naturally. It's human nature & smart to do so.
But the references I can show are the 1977 clock related feedbacks
I have on Ebay.(SKYBOB1) is me.I deal with everyone worldwide.
Actually,I have to send a Borg movement for a 64-66 Mustang Rally Pac
Clock to Sweden today.Imagine Sweden not having a place to repair a standard Borg movement ? Same 12 spline movement in your Corsa clock. The Rally clock uses to different style movements & the buyer has not told me which & he does not
speak English.Google has an excellent translator link.I sent him a message just a couple min.ago in Swedish asking which he needed.
Anyway,Thanks again for your welcome.
Let's see how things go for a while 1st.

Hi,
I'm sorry,I have no experience at all when
it comes to removing or installing any clock.
I'm sure you are at the correct place to ask.
I haven't been on this site very long, but from
what I have seen & read so far,the people here
are very knowledgable when it comes to Corvairs.

Good thing you Deleted it, Bob!

Dave "Motohead" is our resident "comic" with skills, humor and parts galore!
His little poem is in jest! Plenty of cars being restored thanks to Dave's desert deals!
He is a great asset to the Corvair community and has certainly earned plenty of Great Carma!

Dave,
Here is the serviced internal clock movement I have.
It's been serviced & tested.
Rather than the lg.single green mag some have,
this one has twin electro-mags.
But like I said;I'm running very low on those x-tra
long terminal boards/mags.
There's only one other style clock that I can remember
off hand that has that x-tra long terminal.A Chevelle 65/66
dash clock has that long terminal.
I really need
a few people either take a small discount & send me
their old movement or sell it to me.
By the way,I do offer free installation for anyone
that doesn't have time to install a movement purchased from me.
Thanks for inquiring,Bob

I have several OBS (old body style) Suburbans, and the clocks are quartz, and keep PERFECT time. I mean never off by even a few seconds after months.

Can you tell me more about them? Obviously they are not the spring apart "points" style. when did that style go out of style? (from department of redundancy department).

sorry for blurry pix, hard to see on chrome printing

Hi,
Nice little GM/GMC Truck Clock.
I have had several of those over the yrs.
Actually, made by the same folks who made the Monza
clock (General Time).Good running, long lasting little quartz clock.
But,when you had it connected, did you notice the
sweeping,constant motion second hand ? It doesn't
"tic" like it's fore-fathers did. That clock has the same
basic design all the way back to 72'.The face is virtually
identical, naturally it didn't say quartz back then and
the time adj.stem changed locations.
Last mo.this one came in with the sec.hand missing.
Notice the slight color difference of this clock's
sec.hand to yours ? I had both, but he liked the way
I painted this one,so that's the one I left on it.
I have tons of clock hands etc..
Oddly,Borg, the manuf.of the Corsa clock made that clock
all the way up to 78' when it went from mechanical to qrtz.
I have a factory NOS guts (movement)for that clock sitting here
and dozens of used ones.It has the dual "T" spade terminals Borg
used on several models of clocks like the Mustang 69-70 dash clock
& the 69'Camaro dash clock used this style movement & twin T terminals.
I placed a picture of a qrtz.mvnt.This is the basic style that everyone
is selling & does NOT look anything like the one in your clock.
I'm an original fanatic. That is why I like clocks to run like they did
when they came off the assy.line.If it came out "ticking",it should stay
"ticking".If it came out qrtz.then it should stay qrtz.It is primarily up to
the individual owner which is best for him.All Corvair clocks had a "ticking"
movement. If a Corvair owner is serious & wants everything to be stock,it's best to use a ticking movement. If you like just a good driver & a clock that keeps
good time, then qrtz.may just be for you.Hands down,no factory 'ticking" movement
will come close to keeping time like a qrtz.Impossible.But,on the other hand, the
qrtz.doesn't have the familair "Click" sound when those contacts fire open for another cycle every serious car owner knows about & the second hand doesn't "tick".
By the way, begiining in 78'Chevelles,Malibus Montes all have quartz in them, they are made by Borg & they do "tick" !! For yrs.I have tried to transfer those to different applications, but the way Borg designed those, there is nothing you can do to make it fit another clock & I had 10 tons of parts to try it with.
Sorry for typing so long.Got carried away.I live on a large farm & I have
to get out & do some work.Hope this helps with your question.
Please remember,I have factory movements for every clock made from 62-77/78 when
most went to qrtz.by that time,not all,but most.Both serviced,used movements & NOS movements.Thanks,Bob
