Corvair powered VW's - Any Pictures

Curious to see some photos of VW Beetles with Corvair Engines - specifically, how much stock sheetmetal can you leave on the rear of the beetle and have a 'Vair motor?

I am not looking for a Baja (yet...). My wife wants a Beetle, and I want another Vair - so maybe its a fun compromise.

Let's see those pictures!!

I did find some of those online - wondering if anyone here has a non-Baja with a Vair Engine.

Relocating the oil filter and coil, like in Dave's picture will save a few inches. I would find out the distance from the VW transaxle to the rear of the Bug and work from there.

You still have to have a deck lid with a "bump' in it to clear the alternator even if you move the filter.

I've seen Corvair powered bugs with deck lid stand off adapters. Pretty standard for running 48 IDAs. You could run them on the top or bottom. On the top it looks like a scoop. On the bottom it'll keep the rain off.

I figured I would have to run a modified lid, and probably the splash panel between the fenders...hoping I could run stock fenders too.

thanks for all the pics so far!

My sister has a '72 Superbeetle restomod project, and a 74 Superbeetle w/ autostick as a DD.

At first she wanted to keep it all VW, but after getting her license and driving the '74, she KNOWS she needs more motor

Dad and I are debating on Corvair or maybe a WRX powerplant. She didn't want to have to cut the back of the car off. We have updated the '72 suspension to Porsche 944 (5 lug w/disc brakes), but haven't gotten to the motor. Itll have road race seats and a full cage too.
