Donna got the car vacuum and setup toolbox for the trip. I troubleshot the no heater fan operation on it. Found main wire to blower fan had come off during our maintenance. Reconnected and fan works again. Still not working right. No fan in low and medium is same as high. Also low flow into cabin from blower fan. More to do on this issue after Helen.

Donna took the More Door Vair out for her first drive while I held Sugar(TZI Shu/Poodle) in the right seat. Only went 6 miles in neighborhood but was able to do 45 mph get used to steering. Also go a quick stop in, so she knew what the brakes could do. She is ready to drive it to Maggie Valley after a couple trips around here at 60 mph to town and back.

I have been working a PG leak since I fully serviced it. I tightened bolts yesterday and still big puddle this morning. Decided tightening further was not an option. Found leak was from several bolts from fluid coming down threads. Pulled all bolts one at a time, cleaned them and put oring on each one. Installed and tightened. Looks good so far.

Still got a small puddle after 4 hours. Looks like it is the shifter cable oring is leaking. Got to investigate that and repair before Maggie Valley. 9 days left before trip.

Are you sure it's not the TV lever? 1/4" O-ring.... Start it up and see if it stops.. after that...

Bright light and proper angle and I can see fluid and cable mounting plate. It then runs forward onto casing and across gasket and left front corner of pan. Nothing around TV lever.on case or gasket. Cleaned gasket good and wiped it dried this morning after doing bolts.

Also, TV lever has new o-ring. I didn't have a new o-ring for the cable. Used the one that was on it when i pulled it in January. It looked good. I will take one off the cable I pulled and get new one to match.

Quick "on the road fix" is to pull it out 1/2" and a couple of wraps of teflon tape... in case it starts leaking again on atrip.

Matt:

I just went back underneath to reconfirm leak path. I used white paper towels to check each area of concern. No fluid anywhere close to TV lever shaft. No pink on towel used to wipe off that area.

Photo shows where I saw fluid again. It is visually seen on vertical portion of casing on left front corner. Also paper towel picked up fluid on top of case under the cable and fluid visually seen at cable mount flange.

I have pushed a paper towel up and under the cable mount flange to collect anything coming from there. That should prove or disprove its contribution. I will check it again in a few hours.

Reconfirmed leak source. Paper towel under shifter cable is now all pink from leaking fluid. Looking for a new o-ring in my supply.

Rick and I resolved the shifter cable leak issue without resorting to pulling the PG transmission pan. Definitely an o-ring seal issue. It has been parked at the house now for 4 hours with no drips of any kind from the car. It is ready for Maggie Valley now. Just a few more items to finish the road trip support package.

Now how am I going to be able to track my Vair when it moves without my knowledge?

How are people to know a Vair was at any location?

Hmmmm.

Worked with Rick on his Vair yesterday. He noted last evening leaving the restaurant that the front of my Vair was very low and called me about it. I had no problems with turning until I tried to park it and the right tire pulled the trim down as it bounced going into the carport. This morning, I unloaded the car to determine weight loading to see if it was abnormal. I found I had loaded 197 pounds. Well below what could be expected in the trunk. Further investigation revealed springs were cut and looked to be 1 coil less than what is on suspensions I have stacked out back.

Trunk has been loaded with minimal items (92 lbs) needed for trip and some items moved to rear seat and engine compartment. When we get back, springs will be replaced with standard springs so we can have full use of trunk loading for trips.

Although I'll never put it in a car myself.... Subie non turbo 5 speed 2003-10.

Turns out the manual flyheel uses a flexplate! And I need a Subie wheel bolted to a Vair engine.

Shops get $80 hr. here... estimate..3-4 hrs... I did it in 3... time will tell if it's concentric... or not!! GG

Still getting my Mikuni carb on the Corsa. Since I wanted an OE look, I wanted to keep the original air cleaner. Found this perfect silicone adapter on Amazon. Now back to tuning....

Chris, that new exhaust looks good. Having a tailpipe not crushed half closed will help it breathe.
