I pulled the cigarette lighter out of my 65 and cleaned it up, I knew I'd find a use for that Dremel tool, so it would work with my iPhone charger and it works great now. smiling smiley

Installed the new gearbox mounts. Spent more time trying to get the top bolt of the clutch lever where it mounts back onto the body between the body and gearbox than the rest of the installation.

Have the head at engine rebuilders waiting on their report on replacing the displaced valve seat. Interesting, I was reading an article in corvaircorsa.com that says the 140 has a reputation for dropped valve seats.

Yes, thus the comment about installing Deep Seats.
They are less prone to dropping. out.

Yes I noted that. Thank you. The article I talked about also mentioned using seats that are stepped on the outside diameter.

Found a "classic" wood steering wheel that fit my existing steering wheel boss. Still able to see dash panel gauges so that's plus. thumbs up

Well, with a lot of help from Richard Payne the Lakewood made the 75 mile trip home after getting a rebuilt original block turned into a 102 w/ .030 over bored jugs, rebuilt PG, new torque converter, new master cylinder and brake R&R, realignment and a working speedo!

Been a long time, but am very happy as is the wife as it is her car and she got to drive it home. Got a couple other minor things to take care of, but this grocery getting is going to driven regularly!

A lot more was needed, but now it is gonna be used like we hoped to do when we bought it back in 2012.

As some of you may already be aware, the Greenbrier found it's way home about a month ago.
It now sits in a Shelter Logic 12 X 20 "Garage in a Box" with a very heavy duty tarp on the ground to help keep moisture from being to much of an issue over the winter.
It may yet actually see the inside of my garage at some point but that has yet to be determined.

Recently acquired a pair of N.O.S. Trim Rings from a forum member. When putting the van back together, I re-installed the headlight bulbs and trim rings that it came with.

I will wait until warmer weather to set these out in the sun to soften the protective wrapping that has gotten brittle over the years before attempting to unwrap them and install them.
Maybe by then I will have new bulbs to install.

Some of you might notice I installed clear N.O.S. lenses for the turn signals instead of the correct Amber ones.
I had purchased these years go for my '62 95 Van but decided they would work just fine in the '64 with Amber bulbs.

Fresh rebuilt gearbox bolted up and ready for powerpack install. Yes, I did this same thing a couple of months ago (installed gearbox I had sitting on the shelf that turned out to be NFG). I’m confident this transmission is good to go.

I have always liked these racing mirrors and it fit the empty antenna hole (with a few installer contortions smoking smiley ). Now I'm going to figure out how to mount another one in place of factory driver side mirror.

The Lakewood is officially back on the road. Here is what was done:
1- original block built to a 102, .030 over.
2- PG gone thru
3- new torque convertor- Hi stall
4- new master cylinder and all brakes redone
5- changed to elec fuel pump
6- new Maxxis tires
7- Speedometer fixed to actually work and not make a lot a noise!

Thanks goes out to Richard Payne (ratt643) for all the mechanical work done. I just did the tires and fuel pump.

Old Blue is going back on the road... Another LW lives!

Replacing my fuel sender and I set the old one next to the new one. I can't tell the two apart and I don't remember which on is which grinning smiley Hopefully I put the right one in.
In all seriousness, though, after years of Corvair driving without a working gas gauge it is a treat to have one. Now I don't have to remember how many miles I have left before I need to get more gas.
