() Date: July 23, 2022 10:05PM For the first time since it was installed, put the top down. Tried to put the boot cover on, but those things always were a pain in the ass to install. It's black, and tried leaving it in the sun to stretch, but that only helped a little. Put the set of driver condition wire wheel covers on, and took it into town, up and down the main street once, then home. After all these years, it was nice to drive it as a convertible once again. 1966 Corvair Corsa convertible Same car I bought in 1/68 the night before I went to Viet Nam he second time. Got it back in 8/15. Very near concours perfect. File Name File Size Date Added Delete Corsasmall.jpg Re: What did you WORK ON / DO....to your Corvair today? Posted by:

() Date: July 24, 2022 01:53PM Sunday morning coming down, but the temperature going Up to near 100F. Then top was still down, so drove to Amity, Oregon about 12 miles NW. Annual pancake feed and car show fundraiser for the local Volunteer Fire Department. More than 100 cars, no classes or judging. Parked in the shade, talked with a dozen or so people, one of whom was convinced that all Corvairs had "little tiny 4-cylinder engines." People liked it. Stayed a couple of hours, drove home, put the top up and the cover on the car. It will sit in the shop for a week, because there'll be a heat wave. 1966 Corvair Corsa convertible Same car I bought in 1/68 the night before I went to Viet Nam he second time. Got it back in 8/15. () Date: July 24, 2022 04:28PM I replaced the short rubber fuel line that goes between the long steel fuel line coming from the tank and the steel line that passes through the firewall into the fuel pump. (This is accessed with the left rear wheel removed.) The old rubber line was original from 1965 and it broke apart when I removed it. I think it may have been sucking air and creating a faux vapor lock symptom. The car is running great and so far, the symptoms haven't returned. ![]() Re: What did you WORK ON / DO....to your Corvair today? Posted by:

() Date: July 24, 2022 07:36PM Ouch! Needed a hub puller to get this off. Obviously lost a bearing in the past and someone forced a new one on. Have a new spindle ready to swap out. ![]() Re: What did you WORK ON / DO....to your Corvair today? Posted by:

() Date: July 29, 2022 12:06PM While the temperature was moderate this morning, removed the radial tires/wheels and "driver" wire wheel cover set, and replaced them with the show tires -- 4-ply polyester bias ply tires in 7.00-13 by Coker. They're the Firestone pattern. Replaced the wheel covers with the show set. Got one, maybe two car shows this weekend it would be fun to attend, so preparing for those. Not too far away, so I won't be too bothered driving to them on the bias-plys. 1966 Corvair Corsa convertible Same car I bought in 1/68 the night before I went to Viet Nam he second time. () Date: August 03, 2022 05:45PM A friend invited me to attend last evening's meeting of the Willamette Valley Street Rods club in Salem, and I drove the convertible to it. Even though most of the members were car guys, few had ever seen one much less a good one. But it got a good reaction. Today the cover went on and the car went back into the bubble for several weeks. 1966 Corvair Corsa convertible Same car I bought in 1/68 the night before I went to Viet Nam he second time. () Date: August 07, 2022 05:56PM Today I replaced the lower hinge on driver's side door and replaced the rear seat belts which were kinda nasty after ~56 years. All set except I ran out of time and still need to put the rear lower seat cushion back into place. Good progress though on a scorching hot day! 1966 Monza Convertible 110 PG North Shore, MA Re: What did you WORK ON / DO....to your Corvair today? Posted by:
