After two flats in one day I hung some rollers on Zonker.

Kinda liking stock look...might have to buy four Maxxis's.

I moved 5 of my recent acquisitions into their proper places in line and fixed a bunch of flats. Put the input shaft and torque converter on one with some wire to hold it together and installed a dipstick to keep out the dirt and water. Got the hauler ready to pick up 4 tomorrow.

Yikes! Figured this won't last long so doing a replacement clutch cable in the 66 Corsa. I actually was driving it like that with only one strand remaining but I lucked out and noticed it before it snapped completely.

Also, putting the first coat of Ermne White paint on some Corvair wall art today. I'll reveal that later.

Check and see if the ball is stuck. It seems like almost all of the ones that I check are stuck which is really hard on the cable. Alot of the time I need to spread apart the fork to get them to move and then I put on some grease.

Yup. Thanks. I checked the old tech topics and will make adjustments inlcuding slightly more clearance and grease. It was tight in the socket but not frozen totally. Obviously, there was some cable bending going on right at the ball. I haven't had a clutch cable failure in probably 30 years. Good time to check to the others now and at least grease them up.

Installed rebuilt rods from CA Corvairs on the pistons for the EFI engine I am building to take the set of Binion heads I am working with. All balanced to .5 gram spread. Now the fun begins, getting to assemble everything.

I helped a little with some Corvair trouble yesterday. A failed electric fuel pump on our fellow club member's 62 at the Arizona Corvair Challenge yesterday left them DOA after the first slow-drag event. After a pump was found nearby, a swap in the parking lot should have fixed it but then starter bendix was also trashed and spun freely both ways so it ended up being towed home on a trailer.

Last couple of days I cleaned and painted the 66 Coupe's heater box assembly. I removed it several months ago while arear suspension is out.

Today I assembled it and made sure doors operated smoothly and sealed when they should. Up next is to bead blast and paint the fan housing and air outlet. Maybe get it back in a few weeks. Lots to do on Camaro before I get back full time on the Coupe.

Took the rear wheels off the '64 yellow convertible. The wheel cylinders I rebuild 8 years ago are leaking again. Maybe I'll use DOT5 this time.

Is the residual pressure valve working? How long does it usually set between drives?

Usually doesn't sit more than 2 months. I don't remember if it has a residual valve.

Another one followed me home. I think I should stop counting. Factory turbo '66 with a great body, I could not say no. Building it a correct turbo engine now.

Has the fluid been changed since the rebuild? Consensus is every 2-3 years.

Hey Stig,

Maybe that's the famous "speed before beauty" car from the Corvair Summer movie?
