Pulled the rear axle assemblies out of our 66 More Door today. The left was rough and dry sounding when rotated. The right wasn't much better. These were on borrowed time before there was a failure. The backing plates are worse than the ones I have scrap. SO these will probably be scrap units since I have several better units.

I now have to get rear hard lines to replace the homemade lines going to the wheel cylinders and also get new rear brake hoses. These hoses look to be about 15 years old. There was an 2 styles of nuts holding the axles in, so they will be replaced.

I assembled a set of tail light assemblies and backup light assemblies today. I need to go get a Mr Clean Magic Eraser to make the vent plugs for the housings.

I got the fire suppression system installed. Took way too much time to bend the lines but now it's done and I can move on to more fun things.

Removed bushings from 9 LM rear control arms. We will now pick 4 best ones for our Coupe and More Door. Then time to rust remove clean, paint and install new bushings.

Placed order with Clark's for more parts to repair rear brakes on the More Door.

Dropped off 8 rear drums with O'Reilly's. 2 were warped and rejected. All the rest were turned. 4 were turned with minimal material removed. They will be used on More Door and back ups for both cars.

Received semi-metallic brakes for the coupe today.

Dropped off a 9th rear drum this morning with O'Reilly's. Alvin (manager) got it turned while waited. The batch of drums yielded 7 good usable drums. 5 with minimal material removal and 2 with slightly more. 2 will be scrapped due to being warped.

Ordered 4 bushings p/n 3762012 to rebush 2 rear control arms (struts) for my coupe.

Wire wheeled 4 rear struts. 2 are usable for my cars, though the others could be used in a driver. 6 more to clean to find 2 more great ones.

Worked on removing rust with bead blaster on the rear struts. We have 2 painted up so far. 2 to go. 4 struts in blast box waiting their turn.

Removed rust on More Door's 2nd driveshaft and now it is painted up. Ready for its universal joints. Removed units have been repainted and returned to storage as spares for Coupe. Also blasted & painted another driveshaft. It will remain a painted unit without universal joints for the time being.

Installed More Door's replacement right rear wheel well trim.

Removed More Door's lower cove trim due to being damaged. Replacement trim is polished and ready to go on.

Yesterday I installed the oil bath turbo air cleaner I got from nickshu on my ‘64 Spyder vert. This afternoon installed a speaker bracket from John Sweet in same car. I got a Fred Bybee recone from Nick as well but that went in our coupe. It’s original now went in the spyder. With a radio wired for aux in, the car now has tunes and will be way more driveable

Yesterday rebuilt the carbs in the 62 van. Re-jetted to 52s(had 49s). Drove over Snoqualmie pass at 65mph(with 600# of camping $#!+) What a difference! Now we'll just have to wait and see how bad my mpg suffers...

All rear struts have the rust removed, Rust Fix was applied and have been painted. 2 for each car have been selected and set aside. The rest will be put in the for sale package going to Maggie Valley in October.

Second driveshaft for the More Door has had universal joints installed and is waiting installation.

We found the More Door'S right cove casting bent. Pulled out all castings I had. Determined I had a left and 2 rights that were good. All were bead blasted. A right was primed and painted Regal Red, then clear coated. It is waiting trim installation.

Received parts package from Clark's. Started installation of right front brake assembly with backing plate. Realized I did not have a copper gasket for the brake hose. Searched my spares and none found. Task on hold until I visit FLAPS and get some.

We installed the cleaned and painted right front brake backing plate with new seal. Hardware was torqued to specs.

Cleaned and painted left brake backing plate.

Could not locate 2 proper size copper brake washers at my local flaps. Took 2 washers from my HF copper washer box of proper OD but slightly small ID and opened up ID to for brake hose fitting.

Cleaned all front brake parts are to be reused. Found a PO had used copper lubricant in adjustor on the threads.

Noted a difference in brake shoe spring size and coils compared to new springs in kit. Separate discussion issued on subject.

On the self adjuster cap & thread lubricant, I did a lot of searching and found GM used Brake Lubricant 5450032. It is Lubriplate 100 White Calcium Grease. I think a moly anti-seize would be a better lubricant for the adjuster. I have White lithium grease, but will withhold its use on brake parts.

I am using a silicone grease on the slide points and a rubber grease on the wheel cylinder pins.

We went out after the Indy race to complete the right brake and hub installation. It is done and the brakes are adjusted to just a loose drag for right now.

Left side is cleaned up and ready for backing plate installation.

I have been performing a lubrication service on the front end. All joints were bone dry of any grease. On my second mini tube and need another to do left ball joints.
