Funny how that carb cross-shaft just disappears under that shroud also.
A fair amount of light coming in around the fan there too.

Does this mean you removed all the rocker arms and lower studs on one side? That's usually not recommended. It tends to let the head rock. If the upper studs look to be clean, perhaps loosen them a quarter turn and do a complete retorque.

Working on bulkhead/firewall and various misc.
These 3800s have a really loud inlet noise at idle and low throttle. With a little gas, the blower whine overpowers it.

Dropped racecar wheels off at the welder for Moon Disc Dzus fastener tabs.

Pictures are the actual wheel cover, dzus tabs, and weld jig for the tabs.

Update when everything is done and powder coated with race tires mounted.

New lights! Hella housings with modern-ish replaceable H4 and H1 bulbs. Also city lights. And a relay harness to support the higher draw.

Net Corvair count -3 for the weekend. Car count -4. Damn rear wheel on this one tucked under 180 pulling it out. True that the only thing holding the back suspension together is the shock. That's it digging into the ground like an anchor. My friend doing the hauling is good and we got it lifted back up and the wheel flipped back to normal. Not fun moving an FC with most of its suspension missing. Two brigade blue 61 Corvans to be scrapped. A '67 500 4 door will hopefully be put back together and on the road by my friend. All a little sad to see go. Ive never met a corvair I didnt like, but I cant save them all.

Yesterday it was nice enough to finish cleaning and painting dozens of small screws and finish painting pieces for my heater box.
This afternoon after work, I got to reassemble the heater box and install the new Clark's Squirrel Cage and a High Volume Fan Motor.
It is amazing how much time one small component can take. I did clean everything and even painted the inside of the box with high temp engine Cast Aluminum paint just to make it as fresh and clean as I could.
I am not done though, the front to back heater duct still needs cleaned installed and sealed up or the Heater Box job will not perform to it's ability.

Little bits, but piecing together this ugly '63 Rampy to make it complete and a runner. Its a lot more solid then I thought at first. Aside from some of the typical side rust holes, its really pretty rust free. Then decide what to do with it.

Been on jack stands since April 30th 2015.

That is the day Matt yelled at me to motivate.

If I don't care what it looks like it is ready.

The landspeed people don't care if it gets cleaned

Trailer needs work and routine Super Duty stuff first.
