I stopped at the body shop on the way home from work today and found my Greenbrier is "All White" now.
It has been taped for the Red stripe around the middle which should be applied in the coming day or two.

MAYBE with some luck, it will start going back together once again.

Replaced the mechanical fuel pump on my Stinger clone. Old pump was dumping fuel out the side vent. Failed diaphragm I was sure but when I took it apart I could not find the rupture point. It took a few minutes to finally see the tiny little tear. See photos.

I popped in another pump that I had saved from when I bought the last few pumps offered by Rock Auto (before they switched to the China-made junk). I'm back on the streets once again.

For those who will tell me to go electric, I've had two of those pumps fail in the last 30 days on another vehicle so that doesn't seem like the best idea either.

The Greenbrier finally made it out of the Body & Paint shop earlier this week and went back to the Ranch for reassembly.

The batteries in my camera finally died after taking this photo yesterday, or I would have posted more.
The van is currently squeezed in an area where good photo's could not have been taken anyway but I will post more as things move along.

Am I happy with the result? Let's just say.....I'm glad I did not go with a darker color and I feel I should have gotten better result for the amount I was charged.

At least it looks more presentable than it did before and any rust issues it had were taken care of correctly to the best of my knowledge.

HA - Just realized Corvair Summer here has the same paint as Phils landspeed car.
Installed new taillight lenses on it today as well as finished installing lower control arm bushings. Getting close to running, need to plumb the turbo then its just about there.

After fixing the jammed damned lock, started to put the headlight assemblies back together. (Don't know what it is about that car, but it has fought every attempt to rebuild and make it work properly for the past 8 years.) This time I kept assembling the RH headlight assembly (I took both of them apart - excess of enthusiasm and uncertainty.) The LH one went back together just fine. Trying to assemble the RH one, though, and the high beam inner headlight did Not want to remain connected. I'd test it before reassembly, and everything worked. After assembly, it didn't. Finally discovered that the wire to it would get too tight when everything was put back together, so took everything out of the bucket. One of the wires had gotten itself looped around a lower bracket somehow. Got that free, and everything went back together slick as snot. Now all that's left to do is adjust the headlights. But for now, all is well. I plan to take it for a drive with the top down a little later, after the sun retreats a tad more. That black interior does heat up!

Removed the bias-ply 7.00-13 show tires and the show perfect wire wheel covers. Installed the radials and the "driver" wire wheel covers. When the temperature dropped below 80F and the sun was at a better angle, my wife and I went for a Sunday drive with the top down. Boy -- the radials are So much better than the bias-ply tires! I'll just leave these on for a while -- won't be going to any shows snotty enough to require the originals. I plan to do a bunch more of these over the rest of Summer and Fall. Though I always did intend for it to be a car that would show well and be class competitive in an actual open concours show, it did well and now I can drive and enjoy it. It gets a fair amount of attention on the street. The moan of the engine behind at about 55-60 mph is a treat too. A pleasure drive as defined.

I picked up a '65 Corsa convertible to join the fleet. It is a rust free body with a shoddy paint job. No rust though is a big plus. It also has Gen 1 Brown fuel injection. There are lots of little things wrong on this car. Needs new door panels and carpet. Overall though this should clean up with some effort and be a very nice car. I put a new bumper on the front first thing. The one it had had been cut in half and bubble gum welded back together. Then I started on the wiring. Sheesh - this is why old cars have a bad reputation for being unreliable. I replaced the battery positive to HRPT distribution block wire with a new wire with soldered shrunk wrapped ends. Also New battery cables went in with a dedicated 4 gauge cable from engine to body.

Vairy Cool!

Finally got the Corvair on the road for the first time since getting this one ('69 'vert)! Took her down to Carquest and Kwik Trip (gas station) and back. She runs kinda poorly, but she runs! Next to smooth everything out. Also made a bracket out of an old mower blade to fix a rusted out passenger seat mount.

Finally getting more work done on my wife's 63 Spyder. Going to drop the power train out to some cleaning on the the transaxle and tranny, While I'm at it, new axle yoke seals, new gear oil and enjoy my day

I worked on a non-start no power issue on my 66 Corsa. Randomly, when I turned the key there was no power at the ignition switch and no lights on the dashboard. I cleaned the battery posts and cables, disconnected the main wiring harness/engine harness and cleaned and inspected the contacts and made sure they were in securely. I also suspected a bad ignition switch but I did not have that at my immediate disposal.

After doing all that when I reached in and tested my worked all tests came back 100% operational. I fixed the issue by cleaning everything in the engine compartment.

I went to a car meet and on the way back I stopped at a gas station for a fill up. When I went to start the car everything was dead. I tried 10 times to no avail. Then it started so I drove straight home. I turned off the car and went to look at the connections in the engine compartment. They were fine. I reached in and turned the key and it worked every single time. I am now thinking the ignition switch is actually bad so I climb in, press the clutch (it's a long time habit) while I was turning the key. At first the lights come on but they quickly go out and nothing happens.

Then I realized the issue. When I pressed the clutch, the arm/lever right above the gas pedal(where the cable to the clutch connects) was hitting the wiring harness under the dash and pushing on it. I moved the harness up and tested my theory. Sure enough, it was the clutch pedal lever hitting the harness.

I haven't climbed under the dash yet to see if there is a bare wire or a loose one or if the connector is loose but that is on the must do list.

SO, to recap, when not pressing the clutch the car started every time. When depressing the clutch it would randomly work/not work due to the clutch pedal pressing on the harness.

Needed new seals for the yokes going into the diff on the '63. Realized when I pulled the axles loose and looked at the bearings that needed to be repacked. Dropping them off at Richard Payne's tomorrow for a little R&R.

Went to the Corvair Ranch today to move the Greenbrier out and get some photo's before it goes back together. I did put the new rubber seals around the gass for the rear doors and 1/4 panel windows in preparation to maybe install them next week.
