I took photos and put all the pieces in baggies, so there's an outside chance I can get it back together, Matt.

Problem is that every time you clean or paint one thing, the thing next to it looks shabby. This car is very stock, so I want to stick pretty close to original with the right labels and such, but the unrelenting black is pretty oppressive.I have this urge to paint the three air cleaners gold.

Got the factory blue off the whitewalls on the 4 new zapatos for Red. Taking them to my local tire guy to get mounted. Wanted the car to have good looking shoes for its trip to Peachtree City. Old tires are probably 10 years old but since the car is inside 99% of the time wasn't worried about aging out, had one tire pick up a nail that ruined a tire so figured now was time...

Finally got my valves adjusted on my 64 vertical. Still clatters alot. It is a tired engine. Think I am going to need to do more. Need to do a tune up in the next few days. Also will price lifters...sigh.

Checked on progress on the Greenbrier yesterday after work.
Photo 1 was taken after strippin the front panel and finding multiple repairs.
Photo 2 was taken of the partial front panel I purchased at the Corvair Ranch Open House in May (Just in case it would be needed)
Photo 3 was taken yesterday after the front panel section had been installed which saved the body man lots of aggravation and me a few dollars probably.

In order to replace the front panel center section, the outer lower corner panels were removed. The one on the passenger side had been welded on in one place rather than bolted.

Repairs in other sections are progressing as well.

Here are a few photo's of the front lower corner areas after the panels were removed along with one of the repaired driver side frame box area.

Keep in mind that my goal is NOT to have a vehicle I so nice I will be afraid to actually use it. It will not be a concours show van during my time with it.

Been having a time dialing in the YH, even on the newly constructed engine. Finally got it humming nice, so I took the Bluvair out for a spin the other night. I need much brighter lights, but it was good to have it purring.

Serious health issues have knocked me over and kept me from working on the cars the last few months. Feeling a bit better now I am trying to refocus on some of my projects and not go crazy. A while back, before I got really sick I had started to assemble the crankcase for my '66 turbo. I had not seen it on inspection, but the crank I was going to use had a messed up gear. It was out of a core engine I picked up last year. It appeared to be a recent rebuild and looked good; It had been turned 010 and bearings and surfaces looked great so I thought this will work. Nope - Someone had put bots in without the spacer or otherwise and they had deformed the gear teeth. Just enough to not be obvious to the eye, but it caused the crank gear to bind against the cam. Ugh.

So it sat and I got sick. Finally back at it now. I got a perfect standard nitrided crank and a new cam and gear. So yesterday I got that assembled and torqued. Today I picked up some rally wheels off of Craigslist for this car. I was going to go with minilites, but these were a great deal with brand new mounted balanced tires. Still may go with minilites, and move these to a different car, but it looks much better and not like a derelict. Engine should come together pretty quickly now as I have almost all the parts ready to go on hand. Hopefully it will be running soon.

I may be biased, but I personally believe the Chevrolet Rallye Wheel is the BEST looking wheel for our cars. cool smiley

I stopped by the body shop that has my Greenbrier today to check on progress.
It is in primer and they are working on "Blocking" to get things straighter in areas that need attention.

Put the 2024 license tabs on and the registration and insurance cards in an envelope into the glove box. Packaged the show quality spinner wheel covers safely away, hung the driver quality spinner wheel covers on the wall of the shop, and put the standard Corsa wheel covers back on. Cleaned the whitewalls of the 7.00-13 bias ply tires and stored them in the shop. Disconnected the battery, put the cover back on. Had enough show fussing for a while.

I have not messed with car stereos in quite a while. However my '66 Monza had this gaping DIN opening. Usually I just use the stock AM in most of the old cars or carry a bluetooth speaker for my phone and dont bother with setups. However I finally got one and installed it in the Monza. I didnt realize until after I even installed that it does not have CD. No matter, I would not have used it much anyway, CD's gone the way of the cassette...

I hear you Geoff, but seeing as I am a dinosaur myself I dug out my collection of over 300 cd's when I started driving my mother's 2015 VW Golf to appointments for her.I forgot that I had amassed such a collection.

Hey fellas,
Upgraded the air cleaner to this Chevy 14” round air cleaner, sounds a little nicer, haven’t drove it enough to feel a big difference but it does look a little more shiny!
