Got the motor where it will run and stay running today!!!!! Almost time for a drive. I'm so cheesed! Turned out to be the electronic ignition I put in, put the points back in and adjusted and the thing ran! Now to tune and sync carbs. Thanks to Steve Goodman for telling me about the electronic ignitions, they are problematic.

Not much done last 2 days except to finish cleaning up after mother nature and her leaf droppings.

I did get all the rear strut cam bolts out and bead blasted them. Seems I have 2 great ones I can use on the More Door. Then there will 4 others left as extras. a couple good for daily drivers and a couple might good enough just to roll a car around on. Who knows what shape the More Door bolts are in but they look ok. They will also be extras to go in our traveling for sale package.

Got some plastigage from ebay yesterday, went out to the garage and showed my kid what Plastigage was. He was not impressed. Maybe he will be a little more impressed once it runs again. Trash-talked Chevy for a while then we looked up our engine block & cylinder head numbers.

Adjusted the valves and actually drove this beast today! Around the block, slowly. Idle is real high and it's shifting hard (manual). But it drives, stops and turns! Got back and found main left carb dripping gas in the chanber and leaking at the bottom. Time to pull this carb and see what is going on.

All Vair work has ceased. Lightening strike took out my 60 amp wires to the garage. New wires have to be run. Only a 300 foot trench to lay the new wires is needed. We have decided to run 100 amp to the garage. This requires upgrading our main service panel from 200 amp to 300 amp. But it will allow a second a/c unit to be mounted in the Camaro garage addition.

Still working on getting power to my Corvair Center. Lots of rain slowing progress and needing to clean out trench wash ins that happen. 254 feet of trench to dig and got 180 feet done. Shovel wide and 18 inches deep. 125 amp box installed in garage since we are upgrading to 100 amp service due to wire being fried and being replaced. Hope to run wire this weekend.

I would have rented a small trencher. Cheaper than a heart attack.

Would have worked for about 1/2 of the digging. I have water lines to worry about. Also a live oak tree that it's roots would have been cut. We don't want to lose a tree running this wire. Last wire was run around it and added 25 feet to the run. We are tunneling under the roots slowly for about a 25 ft stretch.

We have first 120 ft of wire and conduit in the ditch and routed into the garage. 40 feet has been covered up. Rain was holding us up but none expected until Wednesday. Hope to finish up this weekend.

I did get some sill plates for the 4 door from Jeff (California Corvairs) on Thursday.

Goal for the day was windshield install on my ugly '63 rampy. Installed the gas tank yesterday. Got the windshield in pretty straightforwardly this morning.
Then drove it for a tank of gas. Drives really nicely for what it is!!

Got the rebuilt carb from Craigs and installed. Runs nice now, can even balance the two main carbs! Put everything together and took her for a drive! Just a slow one around the block but it drives just fine! Feel I could take it out for a decent run but need to do some more things first. Will probably have to put it back up on jacks again, need to replace the bottom pan screws (some are falling out). Would hate to lose that pan while driving. But nevertheless, I'm very excited! It's alive!

Meant to say Clarks for the carb, not Craigs. Old age strikes again...

Got the last electrical items moved from the old ign switch to the new (98 Regal) switch that serves the engine and its computer, etc.
Got backlight working on the vacuum/boost gauge. Ran a wire from the ignition module up to the tach, so it works again.
Now I'm not depending on a software display on the tablet that is showing the rest of the instruments via OBD2 link to engine computer.
Oh, yes - 2400 pounds with supercharged 3.8 moves pretty well!

Jay...bet it does!

Me.. just the opposite! I de-computerized the two Zepher seats I picked up... And ,of course, each seat wasdifferent! Bet I have 15-20 hours in cutting harnesses open... wringing out circuits that change colors at most every junction along with splices... but finally 10 way seats... with lumbar! Electronic AC.... Mojan called today and so I asked the engineer! He gave me the model #'s to control the volts.. 3-7vdc... otherwise they can explode!

Finished the alternator install on my '63 rampy. Then I had most of the ramp hardware soaking in evaporust. Got that all installed after it was nice and clean. I had a small chicken coop to move today. Hmmm one rampy is offsite. Another rampy is in the backyard behind a few other cars. Guess we'll take the new one. Drove great!

The neighbor stopped by last night and we inserted the last seat.

Unusual for me... got up at 6am... and by 7 was out tightening last bolt and plugging them in.

Seats are now AIR Cooled..... Electronic HVAC is waiting on parts.
