Began work on my floor repair. It is not severe with the rear area almost flawless but just enough to piss you off in the front. I would go on a rant butttt I have seen what others contend with in northern climates so I will just be happy with my "rust". Game plan is to get the cutting and sanding done then paint what is fine so I can reassemble the dash and get the heating/pedal assembly back in. I am planning to put factory ac in so I will be taking advantage of this time to cut the dash so there is no concern with cutting into the harness or defrost vent. Its mayhem but I am finding a method to the madness and staying positive. There is a lot of firsts for me in this but I am using it to learn a lot.

Luckily I have acquired these panels from a junker at a fellow club members house! It was quite a save and hope to make good use of them.

Been a long road but hoping to have this beast back looking like a car soon! finished cutting out the trunk to accept the a/c pieces and wiring back in the dash. Now I need to run the tunnel wiring which I had to install the compressor harness and reverse boot, and install the shift linkages and heater ducts. This has for sure been a learning experience!

Progress is slow but am getting stuff done.

Been battling the power top motor, going to make one last attempt with the repro rubber mounts. If another set tears I am fabricating something.

A/C stuff is all in and mocked up as far as the interior goes. Wiring ran in dash and through tunnel, trunk and dash cut and fitted all that is left is cleaning up the passenger vent hole some and weld in the spare and dryer mounts.

Next thing is just prepping the car for the drivetrain, linkages all gone through new clutch cable and all pins and worn parts replaced. ( there was a lot of worn or missing parts) Heating system cleaned and cracks in plastic repaired.

Also going through brakes, new rubber hoses and cylinders cleaned.

GM did not put washer solution bottles on 66 and later from everything I read. I am going to put one in my 66 like the 65's. But my dryer will be in the engine compartment, like the 65's

I didn't know they dropped it in 66 but figured it wasn't available for 66 later a/c cars. It is just sitting there.

Finally I can really start digging into my car again. Its been a long time coming but it is now a 4 spd 140! I laid under it for a while and looked at everything and boy while it still needs some adjustments I couldnt believe I was able to pull it off.

Of course it took a complete parts car, lots of busted knuckles and cursing to do it but the learning experience was priceless. Now its time for the alignment shop and getting all the adjustments right, followed up with putting it back together.

Great progress! I'm doing basically the same thing to a 69 vert. I went with the glass washer bottle relocation program outlined in the 66-69 dealer install instruction sheet. The guys at Fisher body just had to cringe when they saw this call out on the build sheet. With A/C you drill, pop and hack alot of holes.
Keep up the good work and post MORE pictures. I'm using them as my reassembly guide.smoking smiley

Awesome Cole, glad it's still coming along, it's tough to make time with so much going on. My strategy is to get it running at least enough to move around the yard, pushing is a pain, then move to getting it on the road, fun part, then worry about making it pretty. Will you make Helen this year?

So I am getting ready to do my adjustments for my clutch cable. Reading the manual ( I sometimes forget I dont have to use google) It says to tension the cable rod to 15 lbs, what do I use to get that measurement? Also torquing the drive nut to 10 ft lbs?
