() Date: January 16, 2013 11:01AM I just received a "Front outer panel extensÃon" (as called in the service manual) i.e. the detachable body part behind the front bumper from the Corvair Ranch. Must be a model year different to mine because there are holes not present in my -61. Could someone enlighten me of the purpose of the holes at the arrows ? ![]() "Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional" -64 convertible since -89.....-61 Rampside since -12 The vert is now 55 years old, most of them in Sweden with me and the missus Re: FC what are these holes for Posted by:

() Date: January 16, 2013 11:12AM Looks like someone might have added a front spoiler at one time? I hear tell that an S10 spoiler will fit? () Date: January 16, 2013 11:48AM Could be, but the holes are oval and seem to be punched in a proper tool. I don't think they are made by an amateur in a garage. () Date: January 16, 2013 12:01PM I would have to check some other FC's to make sure, but I think the piece you got from the Ranch is from a late 63-65 FC. The holes are for the attachment of the "front control splash shield" that came on FC's sold in northern states beginning in mid-63. Here is the said piece on our '65 Greenbrier, and the hole. Note that I have modified the splash shield to accomodate an air dam. The dam and splash shield are secured with shared screws where possible. The dam (valence) is from a 89-92 Ford Ranger. () Date: January 16, 2013 12:26PM If you notice, the holes are different sizes. I'm thinking someone punched them with a hand held hole puncher, twice on each hole. Dann Dann So. Calif. () Date: January 16, 2013 12:33PM Dale's answer is the correct one, the "extra" holes are for the splash shield that was fitted to 1964-65 FC models. Re: FC what are these holes for Posted by:

() Date: January 16, 2013 12:37PM Oh crap! While weeding out good parts from bad during a clean out, I came across a splash shield just as depicted in second photo. No idea what it was. Into the scrap bin it went. Oh well. Some Corvair Guy in Ramona Re: FC what are these holes for Posted by:
